Not that impressive I score higher than both at 4Ghz  6cores vs 8cores

What you DLed does not have the new engine . It's not in actual Maxon Cinebench product yet.Just ran the newest cinebench 11.5 downloaded from Maxon. My cpu score on the 8150 @4.5Ghz is 7.41 pts
tramslated from hardware.fr said:Behind CPU-Z that ran on this system overclocked, a new version of Cinebench was present. It will be based on the engine of Cinema 4D R13 (current Cinebench is based on rather old version 11.5), the availability of software is not announced yet).
Its not only Mhz that determines a CPU's power and speed.
Many other things come to play,, L2 cach L3 cach ,, controller BUS etc etc, For 12 years weve been at 3 and 4Ghz ,,,,,,,,, notice they dont get faster, cuz it doesnt need more Mhz instead needs a powerful CPU however which way they design it.
I would like to say I have high hopes for Vishera but I had high hopes for Bulldozer and got those squashed flat. Still, that was then and this is now.
If I'm reading the most recent leaks correctly it appears PD is mainly a fix for BD's heat and power issues and contains very little in the way of IPC improvements. Didn't AMD promise 15% improvement per year? Surely they wouldn't fail to deliver on their promise!
Anyone got a release date yet? I was seeing end of Q3 (Sept) but now all I'm seeing is October. Anybody know if samples have shipped to reviewers yet?
I'm not sure where your getting your info. Vishera is supposed to have Piledriver cores. What most people call "Bulldozer" is actually a Zambezi CPU which contained Bulldozer cores. Now if your saying a Piledriver core is just a tweaked Bulldozer core, then I would agree. Of course, Windows 7 was just a tweaked Vista. In that case Microsoft tweaked the right things. Hopefully Piledriver will be as much of an improvement.Vishera is actually a new stepping from bulldozer, not piledriver....no way in hell they are going to get 15% ipc from that
it's pretty sad... vishera was supposed to bring some tweaks to piledriver
lol loved that.
Were you the guy that hacked the bitcoin server
And I stand corrected I didn't know it was a quad socket server very nice.
Intel started shipping 4.4 GHz Xeons last spring.
How was that run with the new engine? I missed that! What you DLed does not have the new engine . It's not in actual Maxon Cinebench product yet.

For the record, that was not a normal production product. It was a heavily-binned special run, for which the customer apparently paid an exorbitant price per chip.
They are available to anyone who wants to buy an HP ProLiant DL380 G7 X5698 Server. For a tidy sum no less
Because they are a steaming pile of bull....
Without the driver, roller and dozer.
G'head and prosecute me for starting a new Vish thread, I don't care, but at least at this point we have something new and interesting to discuss.
Vishera spotted running at 5GHz watercooled with stock AMD watercooler. Looks like that's what I'm gonna get.
