VisionTek Xtasty GF4 MX420 $139

Electronics Boutique brick&mortar had the MX420 for $139 (I bought one) and the 600 (I think... The one with dual RAMDAC's) for $169! Both are 64m cards.

It's a regular price according to the guy at the counter, but call your local EB first to make sure.

Anand's article said to stay away from the GF4 MX cards...they are neither based on the GF4 architecture nor are they DX8 compliant. You are better off with the forthcoming GF4 Ti4200 ($199) or the GF3 Ti200.

The PC Club weekly specials thread posted on AT Hot Deals has a GF4 MX440 for $119. Is the 440 a better card than the 420?

yea stay away from G4 MX family, the family is aim to OEM guys. It mean (people who dont care about is in the case)

The 440 and 460 are far better than the 420. The 440 and 460 use DDR ram. The 420 uses 166MHz SDram. RETURN YOUR CARD QUICK, and go buy the G3Ti200 at BB for 150.

Yeah the better deal is the Geforce3 ti200. Around $135 @ newegg. full Directx 8 support and all that jazz. I was also hyped up about the Geforce4MX's until i read a couple of reviews. Tom's is very good.

So, is the BB Visiontek Xtasy Titanium Ti200 64MB @ $199 PM(AE blue) to $152 from http://www.computerhq.com a great deal? It could end up costing $100 after MIR. Would it be better to wait for the GF4 Ti4200 ($199)? When would it be available, a month more??

Did you read Tom's Geforce4 guide? If not you should read up, or atleast check out the benchmarks. You'll probably end up paying ~ $85 more for the Geforce4 Ti4200 (If you get all your rebates - which i personally hate). Personally I'm waiting for a sub$100 (with no rebates) Geforce3 Ti200. It won't be long...

Thanks Shippy --IYO, would the quality of the display on TV be much better if i use this G3 64MB vs an ATI 32MB or does it has nothing to do?

I couldn't really say. I've never used TV-out on any video card i've owned. Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but I heard that ATI's TV-out is superiour to nVidia's. But that doesnt' mean that nVidia's isn't good. All I can say is do some research (read as many reviews as you can stomach) and ask for some other opinions (possibly in the Video forum).
