Volcano 7 Mod help needed

Anyone know off hand what size resister is needed to replace the thermistor to cause the fan to always spin at 2900 rpms. 46 cfm at 27db sounds very appealing. If i could get this mod to work I would replace the panflo (24cfm at 21db) that I am currently using with it. Would I notice a big difference in noise between 21db and 27db?

46 cfm at 27db? Three words: NO FRIGGIN WAY! There's absolutely no way a 80mm 2900RPM fan can be that quiet. I'm sure it's more like 36cfm at 30something db. Thermaltake fans are well known for their exaggerated airflow figures.

Yeah those specs have GOT to be exaggerated. Nevertheless, mine runs around 3100-3300 RPM most of the time (ambients from 21-25C) and I can't hear it at all. The fan is pretty quiet even if you deliberately make it spin faster by clamping your fingers down on the thermistor, so I wouldn't worry about noise from the Volcano 7.

Hmm..I knew thoose specs were too good to be true. Oh well..I guess I have to just stick with the panflo with a 53c full load temp and hope I don't harm something.

What cpu are you running? My athlon 1.4 tbird will run up to 54c on a warm day and I run it 24/7.

I'm running a 1.2 tbird. Is my temp THAT bad or did all of you cooling freaks make me paranoid?
