Volkswagen Eos - with a twist

I really like the new Volkswagen line up; they look great, interior is gorgeous, they are fun to drive, and have some nice pep. The Eos is a borderline chick car, it replaces the old cabriolet which was definitely a chick car. Now it's not as bad as a beetle or compass but it still has that feminine look.

See the following link and the black version of the car with two tone interior and upgraded wheels looks really sharp and more manly. Modifying the interior would be very difficult I know but where would I go about finding rims like the ones in the pictures (I am not a modder but think a nice set of wheels would look amazing).

Thoughts on the Eos in general or how the highway1 looks?
Thanks

I'm always torn with VW. Personally, I love the way most VW's both look and drive, but I'm always haunted by the nightmare of a time we had with our previous three VW's (Jetta and 2 Passats). I've even managed to lump Audi into that mindset, even though I hear they don't have as many problems as the VW's.

I think I'll go back one day, but I dunno, i just always think back to the troubles we had

Two other convertible I would rather have:

Pontiac G6 - if you must have the folding hard-top

Saab 9-3 - 210HP 4cyl or 255HP V6 & compact soft-top for increased trunk space.

EOS has not gotten stellar reviews & it definitely exudes chick.

I right there with you. We've had enough issues with our Passats that make me want to go another route next time. But then...there is Audi which I am interested in. Torn....

I haven't seen many reviews where they haven't loved the Eos other than the flag waving, anti-import types. The G6 hardtop has had terrible reviews; under-powered, lots of road noise, poor features, ugly interior.

I don't want soft top because I have to live through Canadian winters.

Indeed...amazing car.
The car that had the original W12 engine was pretty sweet too.

VW's have a feminine look because they are rounder than most cars but put some nice wheels on them with the upgraded engine and they are a sweet car.

I'm sorry, but it takes more than a bitchin' two-tone interior (which that definitely is) to keep an Eos from being a chick car. I'm not sure there is a more chick-oriented car on the market with the exception of the New Beetle convertible and possibly the Mini Cooper convertible. It's too bad used BMW E93s are still pretty spendy, as I think that's probably the most appealing folding hardtop that is reasonably affordable.

I say this as an avowed social liberal with close friends who are gay and lesbian (and who would no doubt agree with the following statement):

The Volkswagen Eos is the second gayest car on the planet. The only car that is gayer is the New Beetle. Third is the Jetta. The fact that all of these cars have shared platforms only cements their status as the gayest of gay transportation. They are SO gay. Compared to mere "chick" cars, they are more prissy and conceited, and even less masculine,. These are just gay cars, no way around it. When VW brought the Eos to the US for the first time, millions of gay Americans across the continent had to immediately recalibrate their gay-dar systems because they were all going off like the room was filled with John Waters, Ru Paul, Miss J. Alexander, and Daniel Craig. Just parking next to one of these cars at the mall will make you want to accessorize and get a faux-hawk.

As for the platform-mate Audi TT? Classy gay. Yes, even the TT-S. The TT-S is the "gay personal trainer" of cars.

There, I said it!

Hee hee - very well put!

All three of these cars (or, more precisely, their counterparts from a few years ago) made Car Talk's list of Ultimate Gay Cars. My favorite comment was from a gay voter in the poll about the VW Cabriolet: "No need to slap a rainbow sticker on that baby - the car did all the talking for me!"

I don't think these were chick cars. They are just about the only non-gay, non-chick VW convertible I can think of. It's funny - the same thing was true 40 years ago when they were making Karmann Ghias.

No, you're complete right. How could we be so blind? That's totally a man wearing a wig and women's clothing driving it in the photos. Nothing more manly than that...
