Voodoo 3 Dark

I just installed a voodooo 3 2000 (not overclocked) in a P2 win 98SE sytem and I noticed that a lot of images are very dark , like in Unreal the shade side of a rock is totally black.
What settings shoulD I change? I fidelled around with the Level of Detail slider but that did not help.

Using latest non beta drivers and there are no old drivers left in hte system as I also reinstalled win98SE.

i noticed this when i switched form my TNT to a V3, but i knew it would happen a friend told me, Glide is Dark, and it seems to be true, D3D and OpenGL look a little dark, but Glide games are more than a little dark, but its not to bad, how dark is it for you????

I posted a thread about this issue a while back.

Yes unfortunately Unreal is really dark under Glide so it really isn't playable. Other Glide games seem to be OK.

Your only alternative is to run it in Direct 3D (don't even think about OpenGL). Make sure to go to the "graphics and audio" option and set the brightness to maximum. Then go into the 3dfx control panel and set the gamma settings for each API to whatever level you need. I have Direct 3D set to 1.81 and Unreal seems OK with this. Unfortunately Direct 3D ignores the LOD bias slider so your textures are blurier than in Glide. You will also loose fps too.

Most other games will respond to your control panel settings but for some reason Unreal ignores the Glide gamma setting, probably because it is using Glide 2x instead of Glide 3x.

unreal looks ok for me but i think thats beacuse when a freind installed it and found out i had a V3 he sent me this file and told me to run it so it wasnt to dark to play, i wish i still had the file and i would send it to you.
