I checked my video card (Gainward Gf2 Ti500 XP) settings and noticed that Vertical Sync is set at "On by default".. But I haven't noticed any poor performance, so what are the benefits of having this on or off?
Leave it off unless you're experiencing severe tearing. Turning it on caps your framerate and butchers your mouse sensitivity and responsiveness. Also whether or not you have it enabled, make sure you you have your refresh rate as high as your monitor supports at the resolution you're using.
