I've owned these for about 6 months and this is my only gripe about them. Yeah, I can run winamp eq and fix it - sorta. Does anybody know if opening up the sub and stuffing it with polyfill or similair stuff would ease this boomy bass a bit? (say that 5 times fast!).?

hmm id like to see someone try that...if it would work i would do it....someone try it out please!

I think that I'll stick with my Klipsch speakers. It sounds like the z560's have too much bass, and I've heard too many stories of people who've had problems with them.

Ya know I would still recommend the Z-560's to anyone looking for a great set of 4.1 gaming speakers. I got mine on that Dell deal for $115.00 shipped and what a deal that was, you can still find them in that ballpark if you look around.

I believe Logitech makes quality stuff, these speakers have been a pleasure for me. The thing is, every product is going to come under a certian amount of scrutiny from a percentage of people who use it. No companys product is perfect all the time, sometimes they have bad runs/batches, not that this has happened to the 560's, but who knows? A small 3 or 4% defective product one month doesn't justify knocking the whole product line though. It's like that new Gigabyte KT333 board (GA-7VRXP) - seems like the company had some bad batches (AGP voltage or something right?) and this once praised board quickly succumbed to mass paranoia. If you have been following that whole thing lately, you'll notice that those problems seem to be history and the majority of people buying this motherboard now are more than happy.

Besides, you crank up these babies to volume 10 w/beastie boys for an hour, then some people act suprised when they blow their subwoofer! Hmmmm? must be defective, right.

you could do it in winamp or if you have the audigy, you can use a parametric equalizer to set the gain for a specific range on the lower frequencies... helped with mine tremendously

Yes, stuffing would fix some of the problems associated with the bass box.

Stuffing would not fix the problems with the subwoofer enclosure. Stuffing only helps in acoustic suspension enclosures, or as we all like to call them sealed boxes. The stuffing would do nothing but blow out the port and heat up the amplifier. Now, if the subwoofer had a bandwidth that went much higher, the stuffing could be usefull to help supress standing waves. In its situation, it would do nothing.

I've considered buying these for a while but I want Logitech to come out with a 5.1 system. I'm hoping that it'll be soon but I haven't heard anything.

i dont think hed get too tired of his z560s, maybe once in a while, but just go back to using your crappy speakers for about a week and see what a relief it is to be back listening to the z560s. heh. thats like me and my FPS2000 that i got years ago when it was the best thing out (still the only digital FPS system). a few months ago, i got a creative surround station ,because i got a creative audigy soundcard. teamin them up, it sounded awesome.

now i know the FPS2000 cant compare with the z560s at all, but they still provide just as much excitement at the time i got them, and i hope you enjoy yours for a long time to come .

oh, and dont blame your mom for disliking the loud music. my folks cant stand bass, even less blasting music at 3am in the morning. its kind of bad because i've got 400w hi-fi shelf systems in my living room and my room.

HAVE A KICK WITH THOSE Z560 BABIES!

Well, I went out today and bought a bag of 'polyfil' stuffing and 'stuffed' my sub-woofer with it. It sounds like crap even worse now, so I guess we all can scratch that idea? I could of sworn I read a thread here a few months ago by somebody who did the same and swore that it damped the bass a bit too his/her liking?

So i'm going to remove it now, probably going to get an audigy soon anyway so i'll play around with those settings for the Z-560's - seems like many audigy/z-560s owners have had luck with this combo? Besides, all that polyfill so close to all those electronics, driver, heatsink., ect. - well it can't be good. I don't want to fry while playing Jedi Outcast!

you coulda just used some pillow stuffing from walmart or something
and you shouldn't acutally "stuff" the sub, just add a little at a time, see what's a good point to stop adding

Yeah ive read you dont really need to stuff the box but just try layers at a time on the bottom of the box. Also would an audigy or acoustic edge be better for the z560s. I hate extra noise and static and thats what im getting with my sblive.

That's why they won the bang for buck award.. they say they are Klipsh Killers, so that's why you can't tell the difference

aside from hooking up a nice home theater system to your computer, those are some of the best computer speakers you can buy.

in reply to that dude that said they only last 3 months...I can tell you that if you boost distortion with any speaker you will damage it. the ONLY way to kill a speaker is to physically damage it or crank the volume until it distorts.
