An old friend from my hometown, someone who grew up a staunch Christian conservative, voted for a Democrat for the first time in her life in 2018 out of pure revulsion for what the GOP has become. Even better, she and her husband still live in PA so their votes are super important.

She’s still a conservative Christian but in her mind a Christian can’t support the GOP in good conscience while Trump is in charge of it. I was glad to see that for at least two Christians when they said they cared about morality they meant it.
Get her to run. She can run as a Republican, but speak this message.

Which is an absolutely stupid mentality. Trump won on 90k votes spread across 3 states. 3rd party votes in Florida alone were over 250,000. Those votes SUPER mattered.

Not really. We can pretty much assume that those protest votes were spread evenly between the two parties. If we could show that most of the 3rd party votes took away from the Democrats at a much higher rate then it makes a small difference, but even then it is somewhat negligible because few of those 3rd party voters are actually protest votes. The majority of them are regular 3rd party members and they can be seen as normal non-voters.

In Florida 207,043 of those 3rd party votes went to the Libertarian party, which is much more likely to be stealing Republican votes than the Green party that only received 64,399 votes. Overall, the 3rd party protest votes is more likely to have hurt the Republicans in Florida than the Democrats.

She has a number of small children and I'm quite sure she has no desire to run. In addition, she's still a member of the evangelical community which are mostly Trump supporters so I doubt she wants to alienate most of her social circle.

Please. If Jill Stein voters had gone for Hillary in WI, MI & PA we'd have a different President.

That sucks. She'd get so much support from many sides, I bet.

But of course most people can't run. I just want to see people of principle as often as possible so she's not just fuming and giving herself future medical problems.

I would like to think so. To be clear she's still very conservative, she just seems to have come to an Amash type situation where she just can't handle the corruption and the gleeful embrace of cruelty and inhumanity that conflict pretty directly with foundational Christian principles.

To me that's the difference, we've been friends since I was 13 and while we don't agree on almost anything I respect her opinion because she's smart and has integrity. I wish we could get back to having a conservative party filled with intelligent and ethical people. Hell, it doesn't even have to be filled, let's just start with a few.

According to those here things are terrible under Trump, we're not in "good times." So which is it, the economy is hot with Trump at the helm or it isn't?

Also, the challenges Clinton faced 20+ years ago are not the same as today's hyperpartisan world.

I think it’s pretty clear from what I said but so there is no confusion Times are good for most. Gov should be taking in enough taxes to counter deficits.

He doesn't care, lol....it's been repeatedly explained, his shields are on full power.

Just look how he brushes off your statement about Clinton with "challenges were different back then", but can't seem to apply the same logic to Obama. It's symptomatic of willful ignorance, intentional misinformation, and disingenuous conservative propoganda brain rot.

Best possible? No. Best given the current options in the run? Trump is best by a country mile.

Which country, ours or yours? Good use of mile instead of kilometer though, Comrade Slow. You may get an extra vodka portion tonight! Vlad smiles at you from the back of his bear.

I used to lean a lot more left. But then the left became racists and lost all common sense.
LMFAO. Slow leaning "a lot more left" than he does now would mean he was only as fascist as Francisco Franco and not calling Mussolini a leftist socialist like his opinions now.

Look, SlowSpyder's totally not made up story makes perfect sense. He didn't like political figures being racist so he decided to support the guy who says black people are inherently lazy and shouldn't handle his money, that a judge should be disqualified from his case for being a Mexican, and things like that.

Wait what.

Don't forget about the time Trump retweeted a racist graphic from a white supremacist and then refused to apologize when it was pointed out to be false and EXTREMELY racist

You guys are silly, Trump's totally not a racist! It's the left who spreads hate and lies! Lol...

I genuinely don’t get why they keep trying to hide it considering the racism is the part they like!

I mean Trump is basically running for re-election based on his racism. Why not own it?

Good question. But, you're the racist for seeing the racism in their racism. *Tiki torch drop*

Because they accept that racism is wrong, even though they love racism. So they think if they admit that what they love is actually racism, they're admitting they're wrong. It reminds me of fantasy worlds where denying the existence of something somehow makes it not harmful. This is the "I don't believe in fairies" of politics.

He's the least racist person in the world, he just said so the other day, why don't you believe him?

I’m still looking for the video clip where he claimed to be a great bible reader or the greatest bible reader.
Happened on the campaign trail, big national news guy did the interview

Perception management. He'll skip right down the line of what White people regard as racist. Minority opinion doesn't matter.

Look what crazy eyes said about him a couple of months ago.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...ump-most-godly-biblical-president/3495256002/

"He is highly biblical, and I would say to your listeners, we will in all likelihood never see a more godly, biblical president again in our lifetime," she said on the Olive Tree Ministries' radio show "Understanding the Times."

"So we need to be not only praying for him, we need to support him, in my opinion, in every possible way that we can."

The Radio show "Understanding the Times." These people probably need to be sued for flagrant false advertising.

It will never cease to baffle me that typically, conservatives bristle at the idea of protecting people from their own terrible behavior: protecting from scammery, like regulating cash lending services, requiring late night TV salespeople to honestly discuss the merits of their products, demand that owners of captive audiences not blatantly lie to their followers about reality--because they are quite often the victims of this same type of mind rot. Obviously, the GOP will tell them that it is simply unconstitutional to tell people what is bad for them, let them make their own mistakes, etc...which is itself a respectable stance. But then you understand that the same politicians making this argument are the ones that know they depend on this kind of mindfuck to control the gullible and miserable beneath them.
