So now we start the inevitable MMO cycle...
- pay $50+ to wait in line at server logon.... two days after purchase when the patcher completes
- enjoy first :30 and then grind mindlessly to later levels in the futile hope that it "gets better at later levels" (DAoC anyone?)
- get to later levels to find end game content totally missing
- endure numerous swings of nerf bat to balance out classes (your sorc sounds like early day EQ1 Wizard - pretty dominating)
- start hyping the next MMO
It is kinda hard for most MMO's to come out now and not borrow things from WoW. WoW did do a lot of things right. But in all fairness WAR is aiming for end game RvR and that is what the entire game is balanced around, even the PvE/mobs are balanced around RvR.
As for your points. The first one can be valid, but there are two types of cues in WAR, server full queue and realm full queue . The Realm full queue is just for your side (Order or Dest), they have it to keep the populations balanced in game so things aren't lopsided. It sucks getting the queue but I prefer this method myself.
You don't have to do any PvE to level in the game. You can solely do sceanrio's and their quests and just normal RvR and level, infact it is actually quicker if you have near instant scenario queue times. I am in Tier 3 myself and a few of my guild mates that are higher lvl and know the highest lvl on our server (who is 31 I believe now) haven't had any problems as for as content goes thus far.
I play a Sorc, and why they can destroy people, Mythic took the term "glass cannon" to heart. I die so unbelievably easy and with the backlash of my spells, I do as much if not more damage to myself then my enemies do to me. We are a hell of a force to deal with though if we have a dedicated healer. Balance overall in the game is amazingly well done. A few things need to be adjusted upwards to meet other standards but this game is more balanced out of the gate then any other MMO I have ever played (been from most of them since EQ1).
There is always hype for the next MMO. But I can say in full confidence WAR is going to be around for a long time and be right up there as among the best.
We will be cloning 5 servers in order to improve player experiencing on servers with high populations.
The five selected servers will be brought down for maintenance and a copy will be made of the current existing data, including characters, items, guilds, the auction house, and more. These copies will be loaded onto brand new servers.
Once the copies are made the two servers are entirely separate, if you choose to play on the new server any achievements earned there will not carry over to the previous server and vice versa. You will always be able to return to your character on either server at any time.
Below are the servers being cloned and the names of the new ones they are being copied to, these servers will maintain the same ruleset as their parent:
Phoenix Throne (RP) => White Tower (RP)
Skull Throne (Core) => Tower of Doom (Core)
Volkmar (Core) => Magnus (Core)
Badlands (Core) => Mordheim (Core)
Dark Crag (RvR) => Eerie Downs (RvR)
The cloning process will require several hours of downtime, Phoenix Throne will be cloned first, our anticipated downtime is approximately 7AM EDT this morning. We will then begin cloning the other servers once Phoenix Throne and White tower have been brought back online.
A new herald post will be created for both of these maintenance windows. Thank you and as always watch the Herald for important news and information!

Good response. Have to say this one might get my $$. Do you think the late axing of a few cities will affect much?

My impression
WAR = WoW
Stands to reason since WoW = DAOC.

It'll be a little bit before I'm totally decided. The open realm fighting is fun, the instanced PVP is fun, the public quests can be fun. I've received good gear from quests, pub quests, pvp, and the vendor which is cool. I'm just not so sure about my character the marauder. I only use one of the 3 stances.

Youll find them more useful at higher levels.

Did you apply the account code from your game box? You need to do that before you can start paying. It also gives you 30 days free.

So, VashHT, is the dominant strategy still 1-2-3-4?
LoL Mal, you sound like you would get your ass handed to you in a MMORPG. First off, players who just spam skills over and over are NOT good players. A lot of skills need to be used in a certain context, good players will realize this and use the right skills at the right time. Bad players sit there and rap on the same skills hoping it will magically work even if it isn't. Apparently this is what you think is a good strategy. There are NOT 3 or 4 skills you spam over and over, you will get destroyed. Seriously you're arguing with absolutely no clue what it takes to play pvp, you're just making baseless assumptions and taking them as fact.
haha, no matter how many skills your spamming, it still doesn't take skill, try getting on cs:s sometime, we'll see how fast you are.

Hmm no, but will I keep the character I created under the headstart code?

.Today we will see many thousands of new WAR players registering their licence keys. We would like to remind those of you who took part in the Headstart that you can take advantage of a grace period to avoid the need to register today. All Headstart customers can still play without entering a retail licence key for the next seven days if they were a Standard Edition pre-order or fourteen days if they pre-ordered a Collector's Edition.

You have to login to your account and apply the key to the account you used for head-start, if you apply it to a new account you'll lose your guys.

ah, so my characters are tied to my mythic account not the game key/code. Cool

Its going to be near impossible to actually reach a capitol city, you have to take the zones following up to the three fortress located in front of the capitol city and then the capitol city is heavily guarded, not to mention there is no player limit i think since its a actual zone so only well organized large guilds will stand a chance.
