This is $200 no rebates.

The 7900gt and 7800gtx are almost the same in terms of performance, but the 7900gt draws less power, has a smaller pcb and has better overclocking potential.

This deal is hot for people who do not overclock and hate rebates.

Seconded, I don't see why people think the 7900GT is that much amazingly better than the 7800GTX. This is a great card at an awesome price with no rebates (or shipping if you get it at the store).

Warm? Not quite, considered PNY brand. There is nothing wrong with PNY but it would have been HOT if this deal was an eVGA brand then one may have a 'step-up' chance.

Damn! Combine this with that A8N-SLI deal and one of the plummetting AM2's and you have yourself a top of the line rig for ~$500. $700 for an SLI one! Jesus...

Step up chance ?? you only get credit for what you paid, so you get a $200 credit and they do not factor in if you paid sales tax and they charge to ship the step up item to you and you have to pay to send the old card back to them

How does this equate to a step up chance ?

That isnt a bad price but honestly, thats a pny and a very low clocked 430mhz compared to most that are 460mhz+. You can find used/like new 7900gt's for $230 or less that have a lifetime warranty. Id rather have that. Nice find though.

i know this is kind of late for this deal but for future info dont always rely <-(sp?)on the website to tell you the stock of clearance items. It told me stores here in san diego wereOOS but went there and they had 2.
Side noteicked one up myself and promptly traded it I have been told it overclocks pretty good by the new owner

doh!

I was going to jump on this, but I find out that apparently I can't SLI
it together with my 7800GT even though they're the same chip architecture
and are pretty close in terms of features.

What are they thinking, not even being able to SLI match two cards with the
same model / generation of chip together?!

The 7800GTX and GT's have a different number of pipelines.. 24 vs 20, so they wouldnt work in
sli because they arent the same model card. Any differences at all would mess up sli in its
current form.. someone here mentioned that they didnt think a 7900gtx and a 7900gt would
work either because the gtx has a slightly better memory controller and more memory.. even
though they both have 24 pipes and are the same die size and can be easily clocked the same.
