Warm Duron 750mhz and 800mhz?

GPS Computer services has 750mhz retail durons for 52 dollars and 800 mhz retail durons for 64 dollars. I've seen mixed reviews about this company so I guess this is a warm deal. Pricewatch's closest priced retail durons were about 15 dollars more atleast.Cannot find shipping price either,which is also a factor.

Edit: Found them mentioned on pricewatch and shipping is 10 dollars.62 dollars for a retail 750mhz duron shipped is a pretty good deal I think.

Edit 3/25 : 800mhz durons now 61 dollars.

yeah it seems they have the best prices. They have mixed reviews on resellerratings with an overall of 2.0

I think i'll give them a shot.

UPDATE:
3-18-01 ordered a 750. I'll update with progress.
3-26-01 called in. They said they will get more in next shipment.
3-30-01 Arrived working 750 retail with 3 yr warranty.

They are a little slow but their pricing was much better than anyone else's at the time of ordering.

Doug, yep got the same thing. Kinda nervous about it, but the price is darn good. Anybody know what kind of HSF comes with the retail models? I may give this a try.

Being retail chips, they come with AMD approved HSF.

But, if you're planning to do some overclocking, I'd highly suggest going with a better HSF.

i just called 'em and they confirmed that they will be sending out the duron 800, they say its a glitch so i'm gonna get one my self.

I saw this company's ad on pricewatch.com last week! I was impressed with their pricing, but not their shipping price!

Anyway, I visited their site! I also made the observation that the url had amddur700, which contradicts the 800 quoted.

The regular retail price they had on was &quot;$99(?)&quot;. So it made me more suspicious that it was a duron 700, as duron 800 usually retails for $100+.

I decided to call them to see if it was an error . . . The first day I tried them I could not even get a live agent! The second day I tried them, I got a live agent! I was told that it was indeed a duron 800 retail boxed! They claimed it was just a description error!

I do not know whether to try them--after reading the reseller rating. . . . Well, if I do try them, I will use my Blue Card. . . .

Edit: That's interesting! As of last week they had the duron 750 for $65 + $10 shipping! And they had the 800 for $71 + $10 shipping! Wow! So that's a price drop. . . ! Wow! I have to go for it!

I ordered a 750 and an 800. The people seem nice on the phone and the csr told me 2-3 days to ship because they are a new co. and they are getting lots of orders.

They also have a 8x4x32 LG CD-RW for $81. Is that a good price? Also, is the drive a good one? Anyone have more info on this?

As for your question, YES. The 750 and 800 will probably OC to near 1ghz so I would get the 750 and spend the extra money on good HSF.

I don't think anyone has received theirs yet, at least nobody who ordered since this thread started. They charged my CC the same day I ordered, 3/19. On 3/21 I called to check the status. The guy I spoke didn't even ask me my order#. He just asked when I ordered the Duron and when I told him the date, he was already sure it wasn't sent. When I asked him when he would be getting more in stock, he said he never has any idea what or when he's getting stuff in, but that there might be some CPU or Mobo's arriving that week. Yesterday I called again and this time a girl told me that my order wasn't shipped, but they will be getting some Durons in Monday and mine would probably be shipped that day. You know, somehow I doubt it. If they don't, I'm just going to cancel. This company is either very disorganized or very shady. If anyone is considering buying from GPS, I'd suggest waiting until someone on this board actually reports getting their order.
