When ever i am playing a file in media player when i get to about 80% to 100% of the screen, the picture turns to crap and gets all these lines going through it. Any idea how to fix this? Running a 6800 GT. Thanks!

I do believe that's your problem. Just making sure you know. b/c if you havn't heard it doesn't support decoding for the dvds, so it's all getting routed to your cpu, and it seems to be that your cpu can't support that much data. I think that's right.

What monitor you useing? Do games run fine in fullscreen? If your using a crt then it sounds like you have a tube problem.

Edit: See above, and always bow to those who seem to know more

No, this is my new computer. Same monitor (LCD), and the 6800GT worked fine in the other. Im thinking something to do with software or settings. And this is not just DVD, its any video file. And games run fine. Just when watching mpg, avi, divx, ect...

What is your CPU useage during video playback?

1/4 screen = %cpu
1/2 screen = %cpu
4/5 screen = %cpu
full screen = %cpu

give us some numbers
(you can use task manager to get cpu load....ctrl-shift-esc)

OK, After reading this thread, I decided to test this here on my machine, as I run a 6800GT as well. I only tested at Full Screen tho, and got an average of 5% cpu utilization, so I think the theory of the GT not decoding is rather untrue, at least from what I have just seen.

I am having the exact same problem and I know its the 6800gt I have because I just installed it and the problem just started. Games run fine at fullscreen (to put it mildly) and windowed movie files (mpg, avi) run fine as well. But when any vid file is viewed full screen it gets all screwy. Let me know if you solved this and I'll post if I solve it..

EDIT: Downloaded latest drivers at guru3d and its all fixed. doh.
