Hi all!

I was just thinking, my S/ORB makes a lot of noise. It does not do such a hell of a good job. With my case open and stuff like that, I can run my Duron 650@1050, 1.85V that is.

But with the case closed, I can't get more than 950-970, since I cannot run it at 1.85V, it just gets too hot. And at 950, it is completely stable but when I run RC5 cracking, wich I do all the time, the temp. hovers around 64 C. Which is not good of course.

/edit - of course, i could add some case fans, but that makes it alot more noisy. sucks - edit/

So what I was thinking is this:
Get a 72W peltier
get a watercooler CPU block.
get some tubes.
get a small refridgerator.
get a waterpump.
get a small size bucket.
put the pump in the bucket
put the bucket in the fridge
make holes for the tubes in the fridge's door and the comp. case
connect the tubes to the fridge and the comp

suggestions to this. in my mind this could make my system more clockable, I'd run it stable at 1050 and it would be less noisy.

what do I have to think about when building a watercooled system? how to isolate the CPUblock and tubes? is anyone running a watercooled system?

plz, suggestions and ideas!

thanks

I run Water Cooling, and have for over a year, I do run it on intel slot1 chips, but the principal is the same, As to the bucket in the mini-fridge, that will work fine, but no need to drill holes in the door, Drill em thru the side, less obtrusive, and all thats there is a double wall of metal, and cardboard for insullation between the metal skins. As to insulation, You will need 2 types, Foam,( Closed Cell ), for sealing off the cpu/peltier ( if you use a pelt), & pipe insulation for the water lines. Foam insulation is kinda self explanatory, as you MUST keep any ambient air away from the cpu/cooling setup,Pipe Insulation is for the water lines, as you WILL get condensation off the lines going from the fridge to the water block.... The water block MUST be insulated also! If your water gets below freezing, of course, you'll need to add 1/3 anti freeze to it...It's a big Pain in the butt to setup, However the results are awesome... I use a square res made out of tupperware, insulated that, and dropped the freezer section of my dorm fridge in the mixture of fluid I have here.... cpu temp is -12c here with my P3 800 slot1 running at 1066 at 1.8v

If your computer room is just above a basement or crawlspace, why not drill a hole down to the basement and run a drier hose up to the air intack of you case? That way, you'll be drawing in cold air year round (unless, of course, you live in a warm climate).

As to pics// if you go to www.overclockers.com and clik on Water cooling on the left side, scroll down to "Big Lar at 1007", thats a small article of my old sys, with pics, it gives you a basic idea of a "normal" setup, although I have changed it drastically since then...as to buying a cooling setup, it's better to buy your own components....you need a pump/ a block/ some hose, 4 clamps & a reservoir,/ radiator if you go that route... Good luck

BIG LAR when the resevoir is in the bottom of the case does it work ok when it is filled half way up and then turn pump on to prime the loop then top up res. I guess what I'm asking is what is a good way to prime the loop and make sure it dosen't overfill into my case. The res is a 4 1/2 electrical junction box (cab). It's huge. Couldn't get a deal on an inline pump so it is submerged but seems efficent. I couldn't get the water to warm up in a test.

Never mind... it just came to me. As long as the return runs to the bottom of the res....
