Are the WD manufactured SecureConnect SATA Interface Cables completely necessary for the driving I'm using? I figure I can use a generic SATA cableto do the job, but would I be losing out in speed etc?
Also, I've read that the SecureConnect cable doesn't actually power up the drive and you would have to depend on the Legacy Power Connector to actually get it running. Any having to deal with this as well? Overall, is it worth it?
Apologies for all the newbie questions, this is the drive I'm working with: WD Cavier WD5000KS (500 GB, 16MB Cache)
