Webserver and Linksys Router

Ok this is driving me batty!
For the life of me i cannot get my webserver to work with my router....
I used DMX first, then i tried port forwarding, then i tried enabling WAN requests, and nada...zip..bupkis!

Any ideas what might be the issue ?

I am running IIS-5 (for now) until i can get it fixed...then Ill switch over to Redhat or something else..

Your isp may be blocking port 80.

Thought of that so i switched to Port: 8000 and still no luck...
Any other ideas ? ?

I dont know about the linksys routers so I cant help much. Can you get to it by its internal ip address?

Moved to port 1000 as a trial and now it works!
Adelphia must block a ton of http port ranges....i tried 75 to 81 and they all failed, but the minute i went up to 1000 it came up fine...

So setting static IP's for your internal machines in the router config and then forwarding port 80 or 81 or 8080 to the IP you assigned the server didn't work? That's whack!!

What is your ISP?

I use SWB DSL and have no probs with linksys/IIS 5.

My ISP is Adelphia Cable, strange as heck that i cant use the range around port 80!
Or port 8000 for that matter!

But it works now so thats all that matters =)

Why is it strange? It's against your Terms of Service! I guess they're doing a pretty good job of blocking.

"This service does not permit the operation of a server of any type from your Residential Power Link Service."

Excellent thread guys... I've been struggling with the same problem and solved it by going to port 1000, also. Thanks for the help!! LOL!!

I guess Im lucky. I was really surprised when I found out Verizon DSL doesnt block port 80 (and thankfully port 22 is open ).

EDIT: Just so you all know, and this is not a knock on you but the situation you are forced to deal with, but some people cannot access these servers. I cant from work because these odd ports are blocked. Just to let you know
