weird keyboard problem

i did a quick reformat yesterday...and i proceeded to install win 98
using my gateway OS backup CD...and after that..i booted into Win
and went to DOS to do something...and i found that when i type
\ then # will appear...all the other keys works fine except 4 this one...as i often use DOS a keyboard without a \ really causes a lot of trouble...i tried changing the keyboard but did not work
any ideas??anyone

If you have programmable keyboard, you might have accidently remapped it. Does this only happen in DOS?

no..it happens in DOS as well as in Windows..
by the way...how do u actually remap the keyboard

Check the region settings of the keyboard in the control panel if i use american settings in the uk i get the @ on the 2 key instead of where it is on the keyboard
