Weird problem with Cable Modem

For some reason, I can't download files from the internet. I can surf the web, I can even connect to FTP server, but as soon as I go to download something, whether from IE or CuteFTP, the transfer goes for a bit and then stops. I'm using a Linksys LNE100TX NIC and I'm running Windows 2000. The cable modem is the Toshiba PCX1100. Any suggestions? The NIC has a weird setting called Transmit Threshold. I don't know what it is, but the settings are 128, 256, 512, 1024 and Store and Forward. Anyone know what that does? Should it be at the highest setting? Lowest? Any and all ideas are welcome!

Look under options-security-custom level-download in IE to see if file downloads are enabled. Only thing I can think of.

I'm reaching here but it sounds like your connection is timing out. Can you upload and/or download large (10MB or so) files via Email? Try sending yourself a large file via Email and see if the upload or download stops. I know that's not much help but it's a start.

Also try downloading from different FTP sites. I have had problems where one type of ftp program does not work well with another type of ftp server program. Just something to check first.
