Sometimes I read things and think this can't be real. Yesterday I read Twitter post that blew my mind and made me question if we're living in a simulation.

Here's Threader link if you want to read it in non-Tweet form.

I love conspiracy theories as much as the next bloke, and numerology always leads to fun stuff, but those are some pretty specific coincidences.

Side note, I do suspect we are living in a simulation, just not for this reason.

SaltyNuts already proved that we are living in a simulation. In other runs, Elon is spawned as a French porn star.

A bunch of random numbers add up to 69? And this is proof of... The author thinks there is a 420 in there. I can pull a bunch of numbers to mean anything. Christians do this all the time. How the number of passages in the bible are equal to some date, and its on this date Jesus will return. It never happens btw. I do think our perception of the world is colored by our life experiences, culture, family, etc.

My friend and I have been convinced we have been in a simulation for some time. We believe the software has been corrupted, needs a hard reset, but the aliens that created the whole project forgot about this little simulation they started for shits and giggles some time ago, drunk somewhere in another galaxy.

Are you unaware of the "significance" of 69 & 420?

I really hope we live in a simulation. The current state of the world is too horrible. I feel like we'll end up in some sort of Mad Max, post-apocalyptic setting in 100-150 years.

100-150 years definitely puts it in the SEP field.

Isn't humanity living in the most prosperous, least killing period of its history?

I believe you are correct. But once landmasses start shrinking due to coastal flooding from climate change, and limited fresh water access becomes a thing, I think that's when it's gonna get real ugly.
I actually don't expect anything too crazy to happen before I die (one way or there other), unless we get a huge technological revolution. So 2020-2070 doesn't worry me so much as 2070-2120 or 2170.

It's from Life, the Universe, and Everything
"An SEP is something we can't see, or don't see, or our brain doesn't let us see, because we think that it's somebody else's problem. That’s what SEP means. Somebody Else’s Problem. The brain just edits it out, it's like a blind spot.
...
The Somebody Else's Problem field... relies on people's natural predisposition not to see anything they don't want to, weren't expecting, or can't explain. If Effrafax had painted the mountain pink and erected a cheap and simple Somebody Else’s Problem field on it, then people would have walked past the mountain, round it, even over it, and simply never have noticed that the thing was there."

I think we are in a simulation and there are alternate universes, and they are all fueled by washing machines, specifically, the spin cycle. Very interesting things happen during the spin cycle. Socks are spun at high rate and their shape and weight, and the typical speed they spin at eventually hit a critical mass which causes an inter-dimension time state portal where the socks can be ejected into another dimension. These socks will often have small remains of skin cells, and other biological chemicals that are enough to create life. These all end up scattered among alternate universes and in different time segments. Eventually, life is created in alternate universes if enough collide just right. Eventually those life forms also invent washing machines, and then that's how our current universe also got formed. Remember that time is not actually linear so the socks from universes not yet created can still be responsible for the universe we live in now. All of this of course, is a simulation happening on many supercomputers spread across all these universes.

Long story short, every time you use the washing machine you are potentially creating new alternate universes in the simulation.

I feel complete opposite. I think the world is amazing and our rate of technological progress is on exponential curve. It's truly exciting time to be alive. My only sorrow is I will die too soon without seeing all the great things that we previously thought only possible and existed solely in sci-fi books and movies. I couldn't be more excited for the future. We're laying the foundation to become multi planetary species and have robot workforce. We're only getting started.

I find the enthusiasm about going to extremely un-inhabitable planets (primarily so rich guys can show off and others can get rich off of them) - using insane amounts of energy and resources that would take many many times more the resources than it would to saving the beautiful planet we already have and making the lives of the people on it now much better to be sad and delusional.

Politically things are going downhill as well. So much more rules and regulations and government overreach, and more taxes, and costs of living keep going up, inflation is at an all time high etc... At the rate things are going, the future is not very good.

Tech wise, sure, things are great, but only few will be able to afford to truly enjoy any of it. Also I find most tech is actually anti user, with all the spying and crap. Wish we could have tech without all those strings attached honestly. Like for example with EVs, I'd love a car that is built like a 1990 car, except, electric. I don't care about all the bling or wifi or any of that. I want something that works 100% offline.

Yes, from climate change.
I feel good about climate change because I think we've now passed the point of no return in regards to acceptance of renewables and the world is moving towards sustainable energy. The dream I had about everyone being their own utility with solar and batteries and people driving EV are now becoming reality. There's tremendous amount of work still to be done and it will take decades but I'm now more certain than ever this is the path we're headed and nothing can stop us now. So I won't die from climate change. I'll die from natural old age, disease/illness, or unfortunate accident.

Elon has done more to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy than anyone. He's saving our beautiful planet through his companies despite people like you demonizing him for profiting off his work. Make your own money and spend it how you wish instead of trying to tell others how they should spend theirs. And don't try to steal their money.

I've never demonized him for making money ever. Not once. In fact I've said I think he should be a very very rich guy. I've praised his other companies for the products they produce, though not necessarily how they treat their employees. And I've criticized him for being a hypocrite about governments and politics, and I backed that up. But never for being extremely rich and never for working on solar or satellite internet, etc...

Please quote me where I did demonize him for making lots of money, or criticize his other companies products, because I can certainly back up what I've said with quotes. And I know you are just making shit up

So try not to lie so much because you are in a cult to a guy, so much so that you just make shit up. That's kind of sad too.

The living on Mars thing is a dream for people with massive egos or that want to make money. Not for people that truly care about the human species.

As someone who grew up reading sci-fi in the 80s & 90s, I'm personally wounded by this.

I wanna get my ass to Mars
