Santos rejected Russel's offer. I was hoping he'd do that but I actually thought that he would go and take it. I wonder what the fallout from CJ's leak is going to be....

So Santos gets the democratic nomination according to the preview they just aired at the end of the episode. You know what I think is going to come back and bite Santos... the fact that he gave the ethanol speech in Iowa to appease the voters while Vinnick didn't and Santos admitted the fact.

So who do you think is going to be the next President? I love how Vinnick paid homage to Bartlett in his acceptance speech.. smart move. But I like Santos better just because they rarely focused on Vinnick.

Anyway, Santos is gonna take it all. There's no question. If Vinnick wins, you'd have to replace the whole cast. If Santos wins, there'd be some carryover from the Bartlett administration naturally.

It's a no-brainer.

That being said, kudos to Charlie for bangin' Zoe right under the Prez's nose. I literally laughed out loud. Especially when Charlie went to go meet Barlett and told him that wasn't the first time he rode the train

Good episode. I agree that SAntos is gonna take it all for all of the reasons that NFS4 said. And he is made to be the "good man" as in he always makes the good decisions and such.

Even though i know he will win, i am still looking forward to the season finale though.

Well, I remember reading an article on CNN saying that the writers were open to the idea of having a republican president. So I think its still possible...

You know what I think would be awesome though... if there was a Republican-Democratic ticket. Vinnick-Santos would be really cool. They both have great characters and the writers made them out to be honest politicians.

Santos does make some great, great decisions... like Josh said on one of the episodes, "You are not a politician, you are one of them (referring to the voters)". I only fault him for buying into the plan of appeasing the Iowan caucus with his ethanol speech.

Man, I love the West Wing so much that I leave class early just to get home at 9 PM and I just bought the boxed 1,2,3 season set from Amazon from ~$100.

I hope Vinnick wins. Although I don't like the fact that the West Wing writers created a Republican candidate more liberal than some Democrats. I find him more interesting than Santos. And I hope they bring in fresh new people, see it from a Republican perspective. It would be interesting.

The speech he gave near the end of the show was :shocked:

"I think he just cost us five million votes" or something like that.

I'm not so sure that Santos will win. I agree it makes sense from a casting standpoint to keep most of the same cast around...

But what gets me is how likeable they're making Vinick. Even the staffers in the White House get inspired when he speaks. I can't help but think that for many years the writers of West Wing tried to affect change in the real world by creating an inspiring Democratic President. Maybe now they're trying create a Republican candidate (who's actually written like a Democratic candidate). It could be a trojan horse method to affect change. Just look at Bruno's speech about how Vinick could be the one to heal the country.

Also of note is the fact that Vinick seems to not have chosen a VP... and he and Santos had that nice talk in the diner in Iowa.

Vinnick did chose a VP. The Republican from West Virginia. The one that is against abortion. The one that slammed Bartlett and Josh yelled at him in the bar while he was talking on tv.
