Hi all, Has anyone purchased or used the Westinghouse 22" LCD Monitor? Best buy link here:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp...=7802577&type=product&id=1142292834310

I am building a new rig this month, with a Conroe 6600, and a 1900XT vid card (unless thigns change). It should have no problems driving this monitor or BF2 and WoW and other games that I play.

Any feedback on the monitor? How is smearing and ghosting? I visited it at Best Buy today and teh body looked pretty sharp, but the images were static so I cant' gauge performance.

I also can't seem to find it for sale anywhere except BB? Was it just released this week?!?!

Did you look at the LCD buyers guide sticky? It has a good list of what kind of monitor to get for certain functions. That thread is also designed for people who are in a buying situation and want advice as to what to get or where.

The rig you are building will not have a problem with that resolution, but if you are going to play on a 1680x1050 screen, you might want it to be a 20" or 20.1" instead of a 22". Basically it would be the same resolution over a bigger area, and that could make you picture seem less crisp. Personally, I would suggest looking at the Dell 2007WFP or ViewSonic VX2025WM, but you could look around that LCD Buyers Guide thread and see what you think.

How is $400 for a 22" LCD (that you have not even seen) not worth it?

What other 22" LCDs can be had for $400?

OK i just answered my own question. The only thing out there in this price range that is 22" are CRTs and a just released (but not in stock anywhere) ACER AL2216W.

ACER has a thinner bezel but I can't tell if it has all of the inputs.

Myself I need something now so I picked up this westinghouse. So far I really like it. Brighter and better color than my old $500+ (2 years ago) 19". Height is hte same as the 19" but of course it is wider, looks tons bigger.

I definately wouldn't recommend a 20" over a 22" LCD. The pixel size at 22" is still only 0.282 mm, smaller than a 19" LCD, and probably much easier on your eyes. Ghosting should not be an issue for any panel with 8 ms response time or better. The one thing to check, is the panel type. it will be either a TN or an MVA panel, most likley. If its an MVA panel, then I would call this monitor a great deal. The 170 degree viewing angle means its probably MVA panel.

Do you have a link? The viewing angle seems a bit high for a TN panel. Their web site does say 16.2 million colors though (6 bit), so probably a TN panel, then. That's a bit big for a TN panel.

I found this on another forum:

Yes, in short, the 22"ers have the best size/price ratio. Other 22"ers include the followings:

Samsung 225BW
Viewsonic VX2235wm
Westinghouse LCM-22W2

Some of these are now available and some will be available in a month or two. They all have one thing in common. They use the same 22" TN panel by Chi Mei Op. It has a rated response time of 5ms. Why? because 22" panels are exclusive made by Chi Mei Op.

If you are those who don't mind using TN panels, the new 22"ers are definitely worth looking at. They will only cost about 100 more than the 20"ers.

My LCD also has a Chi Mei Op. panel, although it's an 8 bit panel. The panel is not that great, but I'm reasonably happy with it for the price I paid, about $240. It probably would be worth it to see the Westinghouse again at BestBuy, playing a movie or a game. If your happy with the picture quality, then $400 is a great price for an LCD that large.

If you are looking at best buy check what interface they are using. Mine had the westinghouse hooked up to VGA and the text looked kind of fuzy. Came home and hooked it up to DVI-D and text is very crisp.

Everything online (including one person that emailed westinghouse) says it's a 6 bit TN panel. However this thing has great viewing angle, great color and is super bright (to my eyes). If you know of an 8 bit or MVA panel based 22" wide screen within $100 of the westinghouse, give us suggestions. BB alows 14 day returns with no restocking fee.

The 37" 1080Pwestinghouse linked above above does look slick, but gosh that's large for a computer desk, and the 1900x1200 would be tough on my laptop card in most games......
