Elmos is a small little bar/restaurant on Millersport Highway, between Dodge and North Forest, north of UB's Amherst campus. If you're coming from the campus heading north on Millersport it'll be on your right. If you drive by the Burger King or Ford dealership then you've passed it. They have the best honey mustard wings ever. Kinda pricey though, but I need my hit every now and then.

you can get the best wings, of course, near buffalo. Any town in upstate NY has a resturaunt or bar that has the best wings in town, and there is usually a wings night. Get of your patooty and drive over there sometime and try them out!

hrm. Muse, give it up, you're losing. on ATOT, these arguments aren't a battle of honor, they're a battle of wits, and you, sir, have none. you're trying, I can tell. But its like Christopher Reeves trying to run a marathon. Please, stop. My sides hurt.

I beg to differ. I've had my share of buffalo wings and I've never had it with ranch. That's not to say you can't have it with ranch, but in my experience wings have always come with celery and/or carrots and blue cheese.

The wings from Duffs and Anchor Bar are alright. Either place is an excellent choice if you just want hot or even suicidal wings. I prefer my wings a little sweeter so my favorite is definitely a place called Elmos for their grilled honey mustard wings. Another favorite is La Nova.

REAL buffalo wings are blue cheese, period. Sadly though, almost nobody does REAL wings, they just dunk them in some red sauce, add a dash of pepper as the spice and call them buffalo wings. Places like that will often use ranch or some other creamy dressing because it's cheaper and less tangy than real blue cheese. Anyone eating that style of wing won't notice the difference anyway. Place near here does them the traditional way with a topping based on hot sauce and butter, but they add fresh jalapenos and chilis to the sauce. Absolutely killer stuff in that if you like food super hot and spicy you'll kill to get more and if you can't handle 5 alarm heat it'll kill you. :Q

Actually a pretty good way to get business though, they advertise the wings as being too hot to handle, no wimps allowed, so of course everyone that *thinks* they like hot food tries an order. For anyone that tries them they either sell them another order or they sell them 3 or 4 more pitchers of beer to help cool down the mouths.

This guy knows what he's talking about. I've lived half my life in upstate NY (waaaay upstate) and most of those "mom-and-pop" type diners will make a mean order of wings. Especially the Italian restaurants, which tend to be owned by people who either immigrated here from Italy or have parents that did.

Why don't we all have a WNY ATOT gathering at Duff's sometime, SOON! We can then post pics of us enjoying the wings so those who know what a real wing is like can drool! hehe. Maybe we'll freeze some and send them out.

Out of sheer curiosity, how is someone a coward for arguing with you?

I felt that his dumping on me was symptomatic of his needing to rail on somebody. He picks an online argument that he would never do with somebody in person. That is cowardice. There's no justification for the insults he perpetrated. Online flame wars generally have that component substantially. Honestly, I try to stay away from that stuff but sometimes I just feel like I have to defend myself. He attacked me from the getgo and had no right to do so. His justification later was that he was just trying to be funny. I sensed his initial intent of humor but he also insulted me outright before he was even done with his first post.

They are duck wings with BBQ sauce, no idea why they are called Buffalo when they are made with duck wings.

They have nothing to do with chicken.

Is it ranch or blue cheese?

Around here its both. Bigger restaurants give you blue cheese(only good with Buffalo wings otherwise = nasty) while the smaller/fast foody type places give you ranch.

Hmm. 15.97 posts/day. Same advice goes to you = get a life! I see no evidence that you have any kind of working mind.

They're not real Buffalo wings unless you can't feel your mouth afterwards from all the heat

If my first post dishonored and insulted you that greatly that you had to get your granny panties in a bunch and tell me to get a life, I'd think it's you who needs to open the windows and get some fresh air. Maybe one of these days you'll learn to take a joke and not act like a pissy emo bitch anytime someone engages in some razzing. If you honestly thought :

...was an "attack" then you have serious, serious social dysfunction problems and should probably go seek out a good therapist for your paranoia issues. You could seriously learn a thing or two from some of these other posters here -- first, there's quite a few of us that like inserting rude or inappropriate comments simply because it's fun. Second, trying to defend yourself by attacking others, especially if you're already in the wrong, will only fan the flames higher and succeed in your getting burned even more. So far, you've succeeded in doing little more than driving home the point that you're an idiot.

Oh, and before I forget, if I was out in public and one of the people I was with asked "what are buffalo wings?" you could be ASSURED that I'd lay into them and ask if they'd fallen off the short bus. I'm sorry that you're such an overgrown, whiny vag that you couldn't handle such a remark. Next time I'll make sure to put some foam padding in my sack full of doorknobs before I clobber you with it.
