I am referring to the bronze items next to the blue pci-e slot. The one with Asus and the one with the snow flake on it. And are the capable of freezing my comp when hot?

I have a gtx460 which comes in VERY close quarters with both pieces. I have issues when my computer comes under a heavy load for too long a period of time. I am thinking the card is heating one or both these pieces up and causing my issues. The one with asus is very hot to the touch when the crash happens (almost to the point of burning my skin).

The one with the snowflake should just be a pcie bridge. It should not get very hot with that heatpipe going to it. Put a fan on them. Just rig it in there if you have to...

Not sure what happened with link sorry. It is an Asus M2N32-Sli Deluxe board.

The one with the snowflake literally burned me after touching it for more than a second after freeze. Speed Fan and msi after burner both have all my temps as below 60C under the most extreme loads.

That is your southbridge (I think)

do you have decent airflow in your case? your GPU is probably venting hot air directly onto it and increasing your cases internal airflow is the only option other than upgrading your GPU to something a little less toasty. You could try either fitting more case fans or using a more agressive fan profile if your case/mobo allows you to change that setting.

do a manufacturer search on google and find out exactly what it is. Refer to handbook.

The one with the snowflake is the southbridge.

Maybe you can grab a new case with better airflow to cool everything down.
Or maybe if you can add a side fan to your current one if possible.

It's not normal to get this hot.the gtx 460 is not helping.get a good case with better airflow. just like itzbiff told you.or you could try taking the side panel off and put a house cooling fan beside and see.

Looks like they are heatpipe coolers for the northbridge and southbridge. See Asus' website for more info on your M2N32-Sli Deluxe.
