That the Straus creamery in Petaluma? I think they're down the street from me.Straus' chocolate milk, mmm.
Straus' chocolate milk, mmm.
Yeah, the first couple time we bought it, we didn't know the bottles were returnable, oops. Then a cashier mentioned the $2/bottle deposit, "Huh, what?"- Not only is Strauss milk delicious (not ultra pasturized, non homogenized, cream on top) the glass bottle program to reduce waste is incredible. The model should be adopted for a lot more food packaging.
Reminds me of my FIL's grumpy old man routine " When we were kids we had recycling... It was called washing glass bottles"
I wonder if glass bottles do limit waste. Takes a lot of fuel to handle glass. Biggest benefit I see, is feral glass is pretty harmless. Plastic OTOH can cause mischief. That's a serious question btw. I think it would take an intensive analysis to determine which is truly more "environmental" when everything's considered.
