Shadow of War and more Shadow of War.

Kids are getting pissed "wait so you're playing a LOTR game, but we can't watch because it's too violent? That's not fair..."
Gollum is spot on in that game, unlike the hot mess they released last year.

I always get sucked in for few hours minimum if I fire up either of the Shadow games.

Still playing Jedi Survivor. Next up maybe I'll finally try Metro Exodus EE

I guess they'll have to settle for playing Chivalry 2 on their own pc.

Picked up a game called Troubleshooter, supposed to be a great game for those that like FFT and XCOM. Was on sale for $9 so figure I can't go wrong.

So bought Baldur's Gate 3 this week, of course I couldn't even make it through character creation before taking a break. Was torn between fighter/tank or archer archetypes. Chatted with a buddy who has played but hasn't beaten it that fighters have issues getting to targets and archers seem a little OP. That coupled with what I felt like I never really got my Ranger build off the ground in Pillars of Eternity went with a wood elf Ranger.

if you're playing on the hardest difficulty, maybe. but if you're playing on tactician or lower, fighter mobility is generally not a problem. also, misty step is a fighter's best friend (lvl 2 teleport spell)

I was switching between Hades and Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC when I got the itch to try out Phantom Liberty for Cyberpunk and I'm guessing the DLC changed the graphics a bit because all my old settings were still the same from when I beat the game last year, but my FPS went from 120+ down to 11 and I have no idea why. Got it stable around 80 but I'm running through a Nomad campaign now since I did a Corpo start on my first play-through and I didn't want to try and play where I left off before.

Hades is fantastic. I'm on like 13+ clears and there are still so many new lines of dialogue, just doesn't seem to end.

Its cool you can do a couple runs a week and still get new lore/story content, its like tuning into a weekly TV show, I can see why this game has such long term appeal.

I played it relentlessly last year and ended up with around 70 clears and I was still getting new dialogue and finding new links between the various characters in the game. It's still incredibly fun even if you've played it numerous times and the voice acting in all SuperGiant games is ridiculously top notch. Ever since Bastion, I fell in love with the narrator's voice and I'm glad they use him in other games.

The graphics make it look very tempting, despite the fact that I don't play games like this. The visuals could get me to try.

I've been on a gaming frenzy with my 4080 super:
  1. I'm still playing Overwatch 2. It really is a well-made strategic 5v5 FPS game. Here's a random Play-of-the-Game I achieved by melee-killing 3 enemy heroes with a proper team dive: https://packaged-media.redd.it/1qbv...=54e1a3b94b79c65a50f0e4b7bb1c1a908255b9b6#t=0 The hero you see is a high skill ceiling hero where you aim as a first-person but grapple/roll/crush around as a third-person. You gotta do well in both.
  2. I'm low-Plat/high-gold which isn't bad for a 40+ yo dad.
  3. Elden Ring got me good for awhile. But I'm kind of bored of it... to a point even the DLC doesn't excite me much. I'll still play it later.
  4. CP2077 isn't as immersive as RDR2 to me.
  5. Helldivers 2 was immensely fun for awhile, but then suddenly I just lost interest. I guess it got old fast since it's not a full-blown $69.99 in-depth game.
  6. Ghost of Tsushima is cute. I keep comparing it to Elden Ring.
  7. FF7Remake was supposed to be a major game for me since most of us at my age grew up playing FF7 in HS on Playstation 1. I don't find myself launching the game often. I'm like 4 hours in. It sure is pretty though.
  8. I've always wanted to enjoy a proper racing game. Forza 5 Horizon ran beautifully even with my old rtx 2070. I can't even tell much different between high vs ultra graphics. It's a fun game. I had my fill. Playing it with a rumbling Xbox controller + trigger buttons to accelerate is very fun and KB+M could never match it.
  9. CS2... I used to play this a lot decades ago. Movement feels like you're ice skating. Not as fun today.
  10. FTL - Amazing game.
  11. Hades - Good. Not super sucked in though.
  12. Horizon Forbidden West - In my backlog.
  13. The Last of Us 1 Remastered - I don't know about you, as I'm getting older, I'm actually gravitating towards multiplayer instead of SP. I know it should be opposite, but I'm getting sick of visual novel games disguising as FPS. As I'm older, writing becomes predictable and I just want to strategically kill someone (e.g. Overwatch). I haven't gotten past the first hour. I heard the combat sucks... so that's not good.
  14. Returnal - this is supposed to be the Playstation 5's launch darling. You know I've been trying this game over and over. It's absolutely mediocre. Not enough action and weapon-pacing as a rogue-like. Too many wandering around.

Haven't played the Remastered version but TLoU on PS4's combat was pretty unique with the slow motion effects and it would've been a joy for me to do it more if the enemies in it weren't so scary. I was like mostly holding my breath and tiptoing around in that game. But you can enjoy the combat in Uncharted 4 since the creators of TLoU stole the project from Amy Hennig and made it like a crazy action flick with similar combat mechanics.

From Google:

IGN sources have claimed that she was "forced out" by The Last of Us's Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley

Thats some nice Ball play there sir. I doubt I'll ever get the hang of him or doomfist. These days I'm playing Sig, Ram and Winton the most. I still miss 6v6 tanking though.

I tried a Ranger last year and part of the reason I lost interest at 20 hours in co-op was I just spent most time as a melee Ranger needing the cleric to heal me a lot.

Melee ranger? That just sounds like a worse rogue with more steps?

I remember BG3. I got into it hard and for some reason, I lost interest. I think it wasn't too long after the release and Lae'zel would easily abuse Haste and take like 5 turns dishing disgusting melee damage and additional psychic bonus dmg. I lost interest in Act 3 because those big mechanic knights you were supposed to be scared of? I killed them all at the gate and really broke story immersion.

They released a official difficulty slider now with extended handicaps for the enemies.

Great game though.
