They are fast and stable in all sorts of weather, by design.

An adult sized living clone of a famous celebrity for my very own. I expect it to be very expensive and very illegal.

15ish years out... to our retirement plan.

5-6k NM range, no trouble to cross the pacific or visit any place with mostly liquid water.

sell everything and buy one. hopefully they keep building them. a bit more than 200k though. ha.
65' seems a bit small to be crossing the ocean. This is based on absolutely no knowledge of the process or conditions. Just my idea of sailing where the waves can be taller than the boat is long.

Actually, I changed my mind, a full electric conversion for my Miata, overhaul of the suspension, new seats, carpet, etc.

X5M Competition. The new redesign looks smexy. My X5 is an '08 and currently sitting in my driveway dysfunctional so I'm due for an upgrade. My wife seems to be against this idea. Something about kids and going to college.

Indeed. With the ever-improving battery tech it could be light enough to be sporty!

people single hand across the oceans in 24' boats every year, at the more extreme end of things.
65 feet is quite large and you always pick your weather. That is the beauty of being on the water by choice.
Look at the forecast and say " I guess we'll be in port here another week"
Let's say for example, you are in the Bahamas and heading for the next land to the east, the Azores. It is 1700 Nautical Miles (NM)
The 65' ship in the link cruises at 10 knots.
170 hours = almost exactly a week. You can plan a week of weather these days.

200K might get you an appellate court judge in podunk state.

I think Boof is racking up a pretty big booze tab by now. 200k oughta keep the kegs rolling for at least half a year, I think. Still a Jr on the bench, working his way up. Gotta start with small money, first!

But sir! are you suggesting that Clarence's Christmas Party might have cost more than 200k?

600 hp in the M5 is crazy enough, but why would you want this power in a family SUV? Are you taking it to track days?
If you're really lucky, a desirable M4 might still be valuable in say 20 years. OTOH I suspect that depreciation on the X5M is gonna be pretty nasty despite low sales, but I've never priced out M-badged land barges.

yeah...I never understood people wanting, much less *thinking* that "performance SUV tanks" are an actual real thing. It's a ridiculous trend. the worst bit about it is that this branding only exacerbates the cancer that is SUVs metastasizing all over the world's roads!

And we are the primary tumor. Sorry, every other country: we fucked you over with this

i think the only BMW that doesn't tank on depreciation is a limited competition series which you need to know someone to introduce you to some german speaking person, to say good things about you to get an invite to meet someone that will sell you one.

My cousin has one, and told me that's the order he went to on getting one.

Its simular level of difficulty as getting a Porsche GT3.

The last gen M2 Comp is holding up pretty well and they weren’t hard to get. $60k new, four years later a 2019 will set you back $52-58k.

It is news to me that literally anybody likes any 2023+ BMW design. I guess I’m glad there are people out there keeping them in business so they can keep selling me parts for my late 90s/early 00s cars.

Although virtually all German luxury cars depreciate massively in the initial years of ownership, even some of the previously attainable ones will later appreciate once they enter collectible status. This is particularly the case for early 2000's peak BMW, such as repoman0's E46 M3. Obviously as time goes by, good examples become more rare, thus prices appreciate. Note that this is in constant dollars, rather than inflation-adjusted. It also ignores the actual cost of ownership. I'm not suggesting that buying a certain BMW will rate as an "investment."

Where you may not lose a lot of money in the long run is if you buy a model that becomes highly coveted by others. This is somewhat hard to predict in advance, but considering we're witnessing the end of the era of ICE drivetrains with manual transmissions, a new BMW M4 might eventually retain a lot of value. It doesn't necessarily have to be a limited series.

Pandemic era inflation distorted a lot of prices in 2022, so I wouldn't draw any firm conclusions for another year or two. A couple years ago, many Tesla Model 3 buyers were bragging that their cars don't depreciate at all.

The most advanced AI doll but I think it will cost millions.

I guess I'll have to settle for a Genoa X server with 4 TB RAM and few terabytes of DC P5800X Optane drives. And a 48GB RTX A6000 (ADA).

Always wanted one of these

These were extremely difficult to drive.
My friend almost killed himself in one of them.
I almost hit a pole in it too.
The nose on that sucker... id say its worse then a Jaguar XJS, and you have far less visibility then a vette even.

One of my greatest regret in my life is when i sold my 96 supra.
Although it wasn't the turbo version, it was a mark 4.
I literally slaved at my mom's business working many many late hours to save up for that car.
And when i sold it for something a bit bigger with 4 doors, it felt like someone literally ripped my heart out as honestly i don't think i have ever worked so hard for something like i did that car.

I also got no where near what its worth today.

Oh, I suppose a really really great Porsche, like a Carerra 911 in super great shape. I have never even stepped into a Porsche much less owned or driven one, but I just know that some are the chef's kiss.

Just boring remodel stuff, I suppose. I'd like to have a bathtub long enough to be comfortable in, and one of those fancy temperature controls where you just punch in the water temperature you want and out it comes. Heat pump would be good too, for those handful of days when AC would be nice, and yeah, I guess a sauna would be cool too.
Oh, I wish I had the bucks to fix up my house. It's more than I have.

I do have a tankless water heater that has a digital control in the house where I can adjust the temperature in 5F increments, which is nice touch. I didn't pay a cent for that, I was the beneficiary of a program for low income folks. They had some extra money at the end of their fiscal year and the manager liked me!

I'm hoping to buy and install a heat pump (hopefully, this year), I have no central heating in the house and the winters can be pretty tough.
