You do not believe in the same Heaven and Hell that I do.

I believe that you create your own Heaven or Hell. I don't believe in the punishment-based Christian Heaven/Hell.

That was the whole point of the Muslim lifetime visualization. You were supposed to realize that you don't have to believe that Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior to get into "heaven", lol. The mere idea that only Christians go to heaven is obsurd. Hell must be pretty crowded by now. I will never believe that a good person can or should go to Hell because they don't believe in Jesus or God.

I suppose you also believe that the Earth is the center of the universe? Everything revolves and was created around us? Yeah, the Earth is also flat. And it's only 6,000 years old.

Open your eyes... there's a whole world out there waiting for you.

The issue on the creation of us is a neverending debate, so I will not point that out. All i can say, is that I respect what you believe in and am not going to try to debate you to change your mind. All I can do is pray for you.

Heaven is here on earth, waiting within the heart. One needs a faith of some sort to unlock that heaven. When I see a good Christian, I seem them living with that heaven. When I see a bad one, they are usually talking about rules, bounderies, evil, and life after death.

So in other words, a good Christian is only one who tells you what you want to hear.... i see. Unfortunately, Jesus Christ himself must have been a "bad christian".

Tells you what you want to hear? If people want to hear that the trappings of this world are illusory and that one can only find truth and meaning by going within to find the godhead... then... yes. Jesus imbued his followers with divine grace. That's the gift of prophets. The problem is that Jesus died and the politicians took over.

Jesus wasn't a Christian, just like, Buddha wasn't a Buddhist.

Uh, what about all the other ones?

You are blind. Enjoy the darkness. There's a special place for people like you, I am sure.

Let me ask you this. Over the last million years, there have been too many religions to count. Are you willing to bet your afterlife that you have picked the right one? lol

Even Jesus himself said that Organized Religion is an abomination.

What you don't understand is that the Islamic God, the Christian God, the Catholic God, the Methodist God, etc. are the same thing. These faiths just have different interpretations. Beyond that is a universal grace that is approached by all religions/faiths/spiritual movements/meditations. That you think salvation is exclusive to your one small, tiny, insignificant interpretation is the source of your foolishness.

What churches support homosexuals?
What churches are completely accepting of homosexuals in their membership and clergy?

I don't see anything that says "Christian Faith Only."

Uh... dude, Jesus was a Jewish prophet. Christianity took a few centuries to turn into a coherent religion. You would do well to study the faith and its history.

Why would you want to learn about it when you can just thump a Bible and pretend?

You are mixing Islamic beliefs with Christianity. Jesus Christ believed and knew he was the Son of God, making him a Christian.... That is what Christianity is. Christianity stemmed long before people who believed the way I do tagged themselves with the word "Christian"....

I don't believe in your God, so don't bother to waste your time on me.

I need to look no farther than my own Dad to see some of the many problems associated with religion. I have a strong belief system, I am not religious.

You think I am wrong because I don't believe the same things as you. I think you are wrong because you have an extremely narrow world-view. There is a difference. It is not black and white. It is not my way or the highway. This world and the scope of its cumulative history are much bigger than you or I, your Bible or either one of our belief systems.

Until you realize that, you will continue to be like my Dad - living in the dark. This planet and it's people are constantly evolving. Me included. I'm not saying I don't live in the dark - I certainly do from some peoples perspectives. But at least my mind isn't being held back by pre-concieved man-made notions that I got from a 2,000 year old story book telling me that I have to be like "this", "or else".

is your dad a hypocrite according to the new testament?

you say that he thinks that everyone who does not have his views will burn in hell. does he not now that going to heaven is God's grace? that no one should judge or even be so comfortable because ,from my brief understanding of the NT, maybe one can lose their salvation?

I guess. He, like everyone else, applies what they believe selectivly within their lives.

I chose not to believe in any of it. I used to be almost as hard core as him, until I developed a brain of my own. My brain is too logical... The idea of a God, particularly the Christian God, makes little sense. It never quite sat right with me.

Actually, I thank ATOT for opening my eyes up in that regard. That tends to happen when you're processing perhaps hundreds of viewpoints a day.

I believe the church of christ accepts homosexuals into their flock. The episcopalian church appointed a gay bishop in recent months. I've participated in these threads before (with some of the same people, I think ? nebor looks familiar ) and so I won't participate too much here. However I do believe that homosexuality is a sin and it's pretty clear in the Bible.

Jesus came to save sinners and 100% of the people on earth today are sinners (christians and non-christians alike), 100% of the people on the earth sin on a daily basis, and 100% of the people on earth deserve to go to Hell. Cynics love pointing fingers at Christians and proclaiming "sinner!" that doesn't make the cynic any less of a sinner ... theyre only recognizing what Christians already know ... everyone needs Jesus, even Christians.

They did indeed.

I believe and know that I'm the son of the God I don't believe in.

Maybe a hundred years from now people will start a religion about me

Eli:
If you really believe that Christianty is the only true religion, and that all other viewpoints and religions are wrong.. I have nothing to say to you, other than you may want to take a long, hard look in the mirror. My Dad believes that all non-Christians are evil and that they will all burn in Hell. Such unparalelled ignorance nearly makes me spontaneously combust.

Couldn't have said it better myself. That should be framed somewhere.

Thanks Eli! You summarized my contribution to this flamefest.

Hate to bump this POS, but oh well.

I just meant that I believed in Christianity. I believed like my Dad did, that it was the only way to live your life, I believed in the second comming, the mark of the beast, blahblah etc. Jesus was son of God, and he is the only true Lord and Savior!

Like, gag me with a spoon. All that went straight out the window when I started thinking on my own. I 've always had problems with his "world view", now I know why.

He has basically taught what not to believe in, lol.
