This is how I see it
When SS was instituted the average lifspan was 60 years...
Now its in the 70s...
It was made with intention that people would die earlier and I'm sure if each person is leeching off of SS for an extra 10 years more its going to have huge effects
Here is my take:
Lunar Ray - I am 18. I do not want to pay into something where I will get no benefit
I completely understand your position 100% but the point is you are taking a "its not my problem" apathetic viewpoint.
Why should I pay into something that I will not be able to enjoy!
If you were 18 and were put into the EXACT same position would you not appeal to the older generation telling them of your predicament? We are trying to do that but instead the old (take the term as you will...if you are offended how about "Social Security Receiving Adults") people don't care.
We want something
You want something.
Isn't this a position for compromise? Then again the AARP doesn't understand what compromise is and they are leeching us just enough to keep us alive so that when we become geezers also they will try to befriend us.
Like hell I'm going to do that.
