The latest X-Com was awesome, I am definitely looking forward to XCOM 2.
There was also an indie game that was a "spiritual successor" to the original X-COM, if that's your thing. Xenonauts, it was called. It was HARDCORE though.
Rome 2 Total War was excellent, if you prefer the legions to the hordes. The TW games tend to be buggy/glitchy, so it's nice to stay a game or two back anyway and get all those patches.
SWTOR takes up a fair amount of my time... but I don't know why. They just redid all the crafting, companion rules, stats/mods, etc. - it's actually a lot simpler that it was, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, IMO, although I don't read the dev blogs, so I don't know what they were going for.
