What HSF w/ Shuttle

I am way out of the loop regarding PC's since I built my comp close to a year ago. Anyways its kinda loud so I need some help.First I have an XP 1428 with an SVC Golden gate, this thing has got to go. Was thinking of getting an Alpha but everyone says it wont fit on the shuttle unless I grind the conductor or something. Anyone reccommend a HSF thats not to loud that I can use to OC a little. As for case fans I plan to put 4 80mm of those Pana quiet ones.

How about a Thermalright AX-7? bozo1 gets the credit for this useful AX-7 fit list and your board is on there. Pair that up with an adjustable-rpm 80mm fan and you can dial it down to whatever noise/cooling ratio suits you at the time.

If you're looking for a high performance solution, I'd say go with ax-7

aolsuxs I have a Shuttle AK35GTR with a Thermalright AX-7 and it works great. I also put a Vantec 80mm fan on it and have much better temps than with stock HSF and is a lot quieter.

So the AX is better then the GC? What fan would you reccommend for it? What are your current temps?

the ax-7 is probably one of the best socket A heatsinks out there,

I'm running at around 44-45C with the SVC with the stock fan that came with it (32cfm, 28db)

I'm sure I'd get lower temps with the AX-7..

but the SVC costs 6 bucks, the ax-7 25... so heh its really up to you, if you want maximum performance go with the AX-7

If you just want something to get the job (low overclocking) done the SVC is probably the best value.
