Skiing looks better though. A really good skier looks better than a good snowboarder. Plus, skiers have more skill in general...you never see boarders up in those huge mountains doing the things skiers do.

I don't know if this is true but I've heard that snowboarding in general is harder to pickup at first but easier to get good at and vice versa for skiing.

find the boarder

I'm not going to argue that boarding is better than skiing its just different. I enjoy boarding a lot more just because of teh feel i get from it. its more like your one witht he mountain... in a strange sort of way. i enjoyes skiing for many years as well before picking up boarding however

Snowboarding is easier. It took me about 3 days on a snowboard to get myself to the same level of skill on a snowboard that took me several seasons skiing. Being a GOOD skiier who doesn't snowplow down the whole mountain is a lot harder and more technical than any snowboarding. Plus good skiier tricks look a whole lot cooler and are harder to pull off than snowboarders.

If you get yourself into a scary situation on the mountain it's 10 times easier to get yourself down on a snowboard than on skiis, you just simply lean back and go down the moguls, using absolutely no skill or technicality and destroy the mountain for the rest of us.

(I'm a skiier if you couldn't tell, and i'm from the Rockies and ski 3+ times a week). I've got nothing against snowboarders, most of my friends snowboard, I just find more satisfaction out of skiing.

If this is a one time thing, where you don't plan to continue going to the mountain again this season, I would say go with skiing since the learning curve comes a lot quicker. I skiied a lot when I was younger and just tried snowboarding the other weekend. For the first hour of snowboarding, I could hardly stay up for more than a couple feet. By the end of the day, I could get down the beginner slope but was really sore from all the abuse my body took during the course of the day. After I was able to stay on my feet, it's a really cool feeling to snowboard. I can see snowboarding being really fun after you get the basics down. But, like I said, if this is a one time deal, I would recommend skiing.

I used to be a ski and snowboard instuctor. From ease of pickup, snowboarding is quickest. But in terms of skill and less prone to severe injury, skiing is better.

Skiing is bomb, don't listen to the fad "snowboarding is sooo cool" peons. Society is so funny

And yes Skiing is easier.

i've never went skiing, snowboarding for two years. since i started snowboarding/wakeboarding/wakeskating i can pretty much just pick up anything with a board and go at it because they're all related to each other in some way.

when i go to the slopes next year(january or febuary) i'm going to take my wakeskate and play around doing shuvs and kick flips on the bunny slopes. wakeskating = not attached to board, see sig.
