If you don't know your blood type, it would be very recommended to find out IMO. Growing up in a third world country, you don't expect to go to the hospital and they type in your number or name and come up with your whole history files. Most of the time they will just ask you what your blood type is, and if you don't know you will just have to wait ... it just complicates things.

Those of you who don't know your blood type: give blood. It's a good thing to do, and you'll find out your blood type.

Well I have this little card from insurance company that I keep on me at all times when travelling. It has a toll free number that is reachable from anywhere that has a phone, so as long as wherever I am has a phone I should be fine.

This is something everyone should know about themselves. I'm very surprised there's [slightly] greater than 1/3 of respondents here who don't know their blood type. Additionally, I believe it behooves anyone with O- blood to donate.

Hurray for not having that stupid + monkey gene!

But what sucks for you is that you can only receive other O- blood. So compare the ~6% of US population that has O- blood versus the ~37% that has O+...there are benefits to having the stupid + monkey gene.
