What makes Partition Magic go?

I finally got around to buying Partition Magic, and now I just need to get around to figgering it out. The deal is my OS partion, C:/, is 3 gigs, and the programs/ files partion, D:/. is 17-odd gigs. Needless to say, C:/ could be a little bigger, as I'm running XP. But, whenever I try and resize my partitions, I get an error 983, too many errors encountered to continue. What gives?

Did you check your disk for errors?

Solution: Error 983 Too many errors found, process halted.

Run a scandisk or chkdsk /f on the partitions.
If any of the above solutions do not apply, run PartitionInfo . (For information on using PARTINFO, see PowerQuest Solution PR94, "Running a PartitionInfo.")
and send the report to PowerQuest technical support.

Cause(s) of the problem
This error can be caused by file system errors on the partition
This error can also be caused by multiple partition table errors.

Run scandisk to fix the errors on your drive, then try using Partition Magic again.
