G5 is garbage for gaming? I don't mean to flame, but you're an idiot. Care to rephrase that statement?

The G5 is a 2000dpi laser mouse. The MX518, a fine product indeed, is a 1600dpi optical mouse. I won't get into the whole laser/optical thing since button placement is the concern here, but I'm telling you that I thought I'd miss that extra thumb button and I don't. I can always program my tilt wheel to take the place of those thumb buttons.

Now...everyone is different, so if you just can't live without that extra thumb button, that's cool. The MX518 is a great mouse. But the G5 is not, I repeat NOT, garbage for gaming.

In the "hardcore" gaming community, its garbage. I dont blame you for calling me an idiot, you just dont know any better. The 400dpi difference is nothing compared to an extra button on the mouse. Im not trying to get into an argument here, i blame logitech for leaving it out.

I don't wish to argue either, it's useless and no one learns anything except some neat-o new insults to use.

You're right, I don't know much about the hardcore gaming community so I guess we'll agree to disagree. You should have specified that the G5 is garbage for that particular segment of gamers. For 98% of gamers, ones that can live without that extra thumb button, the G5 will most likely be the best gaming mouse they've ever used.

Agreed?

98%? Please...

Let me first say that i said garbage because i am PO'd at logitech for leaving out the extra button, for gamers to lose the extra button is just as bad as taking away a key you use all the time from a keyboard. It is not garbage, it is lacking though, and alot more than %98 have passed on this mouse for that and other reasons. The middle mouse button is hard to click. Dpi switching seems like a bit of a non-feature since games typically let you bind more precise variations and scripts to buttons anyway. Scroll wheel left/right tilt is almost useless. Then there is the price, not a factor for me (i shelled out for the g15, i just want the best functionality for me), but it is a factor for ALOT of gamers.

I believe i speak for more than %2 of gamers with that statement.

Well whatever, you can argue til you're blue in the face. I don't care because my G5 is an awesome mouse for what I use it for, and I don't miss the extra button. I know I'm not the only one that can do without that button. Jeez you guys take this crap so seriously.

All I wanted you to say was something similar to this:

It is not garbage, it is lacking though,

And you did, so I'm finished with the discussion. Sheesh.

One last jab, as per usual.

SIMS? I don't think so. Try Prey, COD2, F.E.A.R., Condemned, and just about every other FPS that people here play.

OMG, I lived without the extra button, I must be a freak of nature or something. Boys, line up and take pictures...only $0.25 each!

I replaced my MX518 with a G5 and I have no regrets. I rarely use the extra buttons anyway, I just like the high DPI. How can you make a generalization that more people would rather have one more button than 400 higher DPI?

I guess so since I'm a NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR for my hospital. Oh, didn't expect that did you? Need me to PROVE that I went to college?

If you have to start ragging on my location, you've already lost.

Does anyone else here realize how immature this prick is being? I know I should ignore him, but it's so fun...

Say whatever you want, I'm proud of my beautiful state. I make a damn fine living and don't have to deal with 8 lanes of traffic on my morning commute. My only fears are getting shot for taking a wrong turn or having my sister hit on me.

Now...I can lighten up. Why don't you? I apologized for calling you an idiot. If you still wish to keep this going, you are really truly pathetic. Have a nice night.

edit: AWESOME. I apologized via PM and then he adds me to his ignore list.

Some real mature members we have here.

Thank you, let this be the end of it.

i'm sorry buck but i'm gonna have to disagree with u. I went from a MX500 to the G5. and the lost of one side button didn't mean ******. And my game improved a heck of alot more with the Precision of the G5 comparted to my mx500.

The only place I really felt the missing button, was going back and forth between websites while browsing. And I quicky found a fix for that, the forward and back button on my keyboard!

And you shouldn't call dedicated gaming mice garbage for gaming. But that's your opinion and I realize you're wrong.

If you took that much offense, I believe you have some real issues. If you want to end the name calling here on AT, you've really got your work cut out for you bub.

Cool, some people dont need it, thats fine. I do, as do others who i compete with at lans. To have another button bound at a location like that is an edge. Whether you miss the button or not isnt the point as much as having that edge.

No, it is I that am sorry that you felt the need to break out your IL just because I was trying to keep this crap ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ off of the public forums.

I apologized but you couldn't accept it gracefully.

Feel free to keep upping your post count by coming up with something else, I'm going to a friend's to watch a movie.

Good night all.
