If you will buy other system, I agree you OC

Tip for limited budget: more RAM or up to 3.2 HT Presty, you will be fine with almost of games now (but don't count on Best Quality Option and LCD).

I have 2.4HT and 3.2 HT Presty. Surely, you will see a bit boost performance lot.

I have 875 chipset, 3.2 HT Presty, ATI 850XT Platinium, 2 GB Corsair LLPRO, Creative ZS 2: I can play easily some of games with optimal option: Battle Field 2, Far Cry, Act of War, Age of Empire 3, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, v.v...

Compared to last system: A8N32-SLI Deluxe, x2 4200, 2 GB Corsair PRo 3500, Leadtek 7800 GTX 256Mb, Creative X-fi, RAID setup on LCD SAMSUNG 4ns. Price is triple or more, but I'm not satisfied with it because speed is not DOUBLE as you think.

Tip: on 3.2HT you can OC to 3.6 and it runs nicely on CRT 21" 800x600.
on 2nd platform, you can only play 1280x1024 or 1024x768 bcs of LCD limit.

Both of them run the same performance.

You have it and you will answer it. Don't imagine and answer the question. Shame on it !!! Right.

Right man, Intel for stability not for OC. Choose Asus, Gigabyte or Abit.

You're lucky because I post many questions concerning about upgrade to X2, but nobody answer me that question correctly. Always I have the same general advice: rock solid, best bang of buck, big boost performance....LOL

Surely, it runs smoother with last edg. techno, but it don't run faster in double speed as you think. Besides, people don't have both system, they guest, they think, they imagine.

Buy it , test it and you will see it

Good luck

Right man,

I have that board too, rocky board from 2 years now. and I still typing on this old machine and Prime95 on last machine.

I don't think you older than me dude.

Good luck

P/s: It's weird that you can run Battle Field 2 on this board with 2 Gb of RAM, OC to 3.4 on Geforce 5500 256 Mb with minimum setting... HOAH...

(I have 10 old comps in basement and over 100 in office... IMAO)

A 3.2 with hyperthreading would be a nice upgrade over your current CPU. But if you are gonna switch motherboards, you might as well go AMD. If you don't already have PC3200 DDR, and have something like PC2700, that mem would bottleneck an 800mhz FSB P4.

I still have an 486DX-33 with 140 Mb Seagate Made in Singapore. It still work like a charm without a bit error. I have a pic but I cannot post it here. All the fans are made in Japan, not China as in new systems.

Other systems before P4C800-E deluxe works rocky like him, but don't have options to OC in RAM or CPU. You won't regret it. About quality, it decrease by times. 200 Gb Seagate these days can failure, I have had RMA my P4C800-E deluxe 1 time, even with Corsair 3200 LLPro with LED (RMA 1 time).

With 486 and windows 3.11, you can enter Internet and use Office without a hitch.

Have a nice week-end.

In P4C800-E Deluxe, I can mix my RAM like: 512 Mb Corsair and 512 Mb OCZ Performance, or using 4 slots without a compatibility problem. They always say that you need a TWIN, the hype is NOT true in the past.

But I have surely a problem with the new system in Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe, they don't want you mix RAM anymore or something wracky that you cannot use 4 memory slots. Asus agent told me that.

Plus, in P4C800-E, you can enjoy speed in Dual Channel Memory and full of 4 slots.

Get asrock A64 AGP/PCIe motherboard, and use the X800xt pe in there for now, and get A64 processor. Although I am not sure how well the AGP slot works in there. Maybe someone can report on that.

If you are willing to buy a new P4 processor, might as well spend a bit more and get A64 setup imo.
