What Skyrim mods is everyone running?

After my disappointment with ESO I have returned to Skyrim and am in search of decent mods. I started with Helgen Reborn and love it. I searched around and found a few random mods I may try out. What is everyone else using? What are the best/crucial mods I should install?

I gave up trying to mod slyrim. Between 20 steps on which mod goes after which and curropt save game files.

I wish there's was a single .zip that you unpack and you're good to go with all I need. Maybe there is one?

That's how ziggy's mod for Far Cry 3 is. Unpack, copy over original. start.

Agreed. If a good steam sale comes on I'll just buy it in order to get the HD texture pack steam freebie (which is apparently only for a steam-purchased version of the game.) I got my used copy cheap so I'm not against that route...

So many I cant list.

Lots of texture and mesh mods. Some lighting, weather, loads of new armor and weapons. New clothes, expanded clothes that were not previously for sale. Many creature summons, conjure dagger, conjure pickax, some junk I cant recall.
Several homes, including one in huge freakin castle near the throat of the world.

Saw the castle near the throat of the world along with another home on top of a waterfall, going to try both of those out. Might also try out the weather with thunder and lightning. I may be interested in new armor/weapons but mostly what im looking for are more quests along the lines of Helgen Reborn.

> conjure pickax,

That would be nice. Having to lug around a 10+ lb pickaxe to use once every 10 hours is annoying when I'm a mage who should be able to just blast or melt the ore right out of the vein. But missing out on free ore and gems would be even more annoying

Skyrim drops to a about a 4.5 out of 10 unmodded, and almost becomes unplayable though. One doesn't need to mod the game until it melts, just learn to mod properly and read instructions.

Become Jarl of Ivarstead? The bandits that mod places around the landscape between Ivarstead and Riften give my lower level character a beating.

I spent like 6 hours downloading and installing all the mods from the STEP project. It was a huge pain, and eventually I just got bored of the game, just like I did playing it "vanilla."

The individual mod makers pitch a fit when people bundle all their mods together into a single zip, but it's still done pretty frequently. Just check torrent sites for the newest STEP mod. They ban people for mentioning it on any of the modding forums because the modders are so precious about it.

Use the Nexus mod manager. SO much easier I think Bethesda should link to it during the install process.

Is there not still the problem of merging levelled lists when different mods mess with the same lists? I recall tedious complications with wyrebash for Oblivion. I can no longer face anything that geeky.

I think the only essential mods are the unofficial patch and the one that de-consolises the UI (whatever its called). That was true with Oblivion and from what I've seen of skyrim that needs the latter even more badly.

I bought Legendary on sale and said to myself "ok, this game is praised up and down by a million million people, I'm going to give it a try and like it." Turns out I got about 20hrs in and I just don't feel like playing it any longer. Its a great quality title, it just doesnt grab me in any way that makes me want to keep playing. Honestly, I'm not really sure why, it just feels like its missing something to tie it all together(imo).

Focus on faction quests, you'll have a better experience.
Thieves and Brotherhood are especially good.

Funny you say that, all the reviews gave vanilla Skyrim 9s and 10s.
But I guess all the cool kids play Dark Souls.

vanilla skyrim was definately not a 9 or 10

it was unfinished and buggy

some features were purposely not included in the original release so you would have to pay for them in a dlc

I find it laughable how people try looking for and complaining about the smallest insignificant details in Skyrim that nobody else notices while ignoring the sheer immersive epicness of the game.

If you consider Skyrim unfinished with everything there is in it, then you would probably consider all other AAA titles pre-alpha.

most mass produced games i do not buy

right now i am enjoying kerbal space prgram and it is officially unfinished

as for skyrim the civil war was unfinished as well as other various tasks around tamriel

i was not saying it was a 5 out of 10 but it was not a 9 or 10 either in any way

a lot of rpgs from the 90s and early 2000s were much more impressive for what they had to work with. morrowind is has a lot more soul than skyrim or any other game betheseda produces right now

Skyrim is the best RPG ever made, alongside Fallout 3 and Deus Ex.

Saying "the civil war is unfinished therefore other RPGs are better" is like getting a 5 star meal and complaining the fork wasn't in the correct place therefore McDonald's is better.
