What's a .END file?

I got a cd with some material to work with (it was supposed to contain some 3d data) and it contains 2d formats and a file with a .end suffix. Could the .end file be some kind of 3d format?

longshot but try opening the file in notepad to view the raw contents and see if it lends you a clue..
