What's bad about RealPlayer?

Its bloatware, spyware and attaches itself to every program in your computer...it has been rumored that it might also attach it self to objects around you computer room like lamps and windows.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention nagware always wanting you to upgrade to Rp Super, or RP deluxe or RP gold or RP platinum.

it's quality in the past was much poorer than all the other formats. recently it has improved, but for he most part it's quality is still a year or 2 behind QT or divx ect.

I have no problems with it. I'm very careful to read everything throughout the installation and uncheck everything I don't want Realplayer to take over or harass me about.

I tried to explain this to my stepfather before he installed Realplayer and Gator on his machine and now all he does is complain about how something is wrong with his computer.

When I think of Realplayer it reminds me of that 80's song Somebody's Watching Me

The platinum pay versions actually look & work very nicely. Still a little bloated, but great for watching out of state baseball games & whatever else you might like to subscribe to.

I just hate fat interfaces, with lots of wasted space. Which is, basically, what RealPlayer is, on all levels, cosmetic and otherwise.

Imagine opening up your case and letting a cow take a crap in it. That's what installing RealPlayer is like. People who install RealPlayer like playing in cow crap. Plus it sucks.

So, what other player allows me to precisely fast-forward and reverse like a VCR? Ctrl-Right Arrow and ctrl-Left Arrow allows me to skip through commercials, even on live streaming feeds.

even if you try to not let it take over all your file extensions, it will still try to take over your CD burning and doesn't prompt you for an option of stopping this afaik

Trying to uninstall it is a royal pain. You have to use spyware removal tools and muck around in the registry to completely remove it.
