Whats best 12-pipe card?

even though the agp GS is supposed to be ~$200, it'll still have it's butt handed to it by the $200 [afterMIR] x850xt . . . and that's assuming you can unlock 4 pipes . . .

OP, if you're gonna spend ~$200 on a 12-pipe card . . . ,ight as well get the fastest 16-piper

the gs is basically a 6800gt, wait maybe a little slower due to lower clock speeds then its pci-e counterpart but its still a fast card.

I wish people would stop comparing the AGP 6800GS with the PCI-E 6800GS... yes, I know they have the same name, but they're only related by the NVidia sticker and not much else... the AGP and PCI-E 6800GS cards have completely differant cores and should never be called "counterparts" to each other.

On paper, I'd prefer the 6800GS over the 6800NU, but I'd like to see if the GS has a high success rate (if at all) on unlocking before taking the plunge... I imagine price will have a big deciding factor on which is the better value, but on paper, the 6800GS is definately the better 12-piper of the two.

I won't comment on the ATI cards because I don't really follow that market much, but between the NVidia cards, I'd still recomend the GS over the NU (unless price is a big factor).

So my best choice seems to be either the 6800gs or the x800gto. If i get a gs i would probably wait for the xfx one that it supposively overclocked, but the agp gto is based of the same n430 core which alows even greater overclocking. The x800pro is becoming alot more expensive now as well as the 6800 so those are out of the question. I would go for the x850xt deal at microcenter however i dont want to deal with rebates, yah it seems stupid but i dont want to.

I'm sure that card "overclocked" XFX AGP 6800GS is a MYTH not fact. You'll be waiting a long time... the card either doesn't exist at all, or was a typo (350, not 450).

In short, don't hold your breath or be counting on a magical 100MHz overclocked AGP 6800GS... it's just not going to happen. Look at what is on the table now, because that's all there is... a 12-pipe 350MHz 6800GS or the X850XT... there is no "wonder" 6800GS card.

That would be your best bet, a X800GTO2 flashed to x850xtpe (with 16 pipes), or just go for the X850xt from the start.

EDIT: Wait, is this for AGP? Oh, then just go for x850xt.

Ignore him. There is not GTO2. He may mean the X800GTO2, except that was only for pci-e last time I looked. I would go with the 6800GS as its the only one you'll find in stock!
