What's the best AMD motherboard?

like the title says, what is the best amd motherboard that supports ddr. I'm looking for a very stable motherboard that performs well. I heard a lot of good things about the ASUS. somebody told me the sys(sp?) chipset is really good and is the best bang for the buck. I will aslo be getting a 1.2 tbird and using a geforce 2 gts if that's any help. Any advice?

yea the a7m is pretty good.

in general, look for the amd 761 chipset.

people here also like the epox but i can't tell you any personal experience.

I was wondering the same question... I am stuck between the A7M by ASuS and the K7T266 Pro by MSI. The MSI uses a VIA chipset for DDR, which I heard is bad, but the MSI board is cheaper AND it is recommended by AMD where as the ASUS is not. Any input on the two boards?

ASUS A7V266 as with all KT266 board have a problem with USB and FSB over 138 (if you dont use usb it is fine)

Abit KG7 expensive need Registered ram which does not like high FSB

SIS/NFORCE are just around the corner (september)

the ECS SIS board is out now but get it if you dont want to overclock but it is a 100% stable chipset

i say epox now or SIS/nforce later

EPoX, I have been running mine for about 2 months now with rock solid stability and blazing speed. Plus, if you ever want to overclock it is THE BEST out there right now.

Im gonna say the EPoX 8K7A I have mine running stable at 157 FSB and its solid as a rock so far (I havent had it that long.)

well i don't have a lot of money and the sis looked like a good price but everyone is pointing out the Epox so i was wondering how was the onboard sound? if i get it i won't be able to get a sound card right now. I'm not really picky about the sound as long as it's not scratchy. a sound blaster 64 is good enough for me. so does the onboard compares close enough to a sound blaster 64?

onboard sound is great for 2.1. 4.1 with onboard is ok but if you have 4.1 speakers a TB Santa Cruz would be my 1st choice
