What's wrong with my Geforce2?????

Hey guys. I'm at a loss...

I'm using a Athlon 750 on a KA7-100. Creative Annihilator 2 with 5.30 drivers or Creative drivers.

My 3DMark scores (1024x768x16) come out at about 1300 no matter what. When I'm clocked up to 900, same thing. If I change from D3D T&L to Athlon optimizations, same thing.

I'm running a P3-550e with a Voodoo3 3000 on the bench next to it, and getting more than twice that score. When I clock the P3 to 787 & the V3 to 183, I get 3550.

I don't think a V3 should beat my GF2 under ANY circumstances (other that Glide).

What am I doing wrong?????

Are you running the Via 4.03 AGP driver (check viatech.com website)? Also, a lot of people have said you need to fully remove all traces of previous (especially 3dfx) drivers from your system (including registry) before installing the Geforce2 drivers. Try that if you haven't already. Your score should be higher. With a 600e @ 800 on a Via chipset mb (soyo 6vca) and a fresh win98 install I've been getting 3dmark of around 6120 with my Prophet II 64meg, same resolution as you. I would have expected the athlon to be in the same ballpark. If you've got the time, I'd try a fresh windows install, then put in the Via motherboard drivers, followed by the Creative geforce2 drivers.

Now at 900 with Geforce memory at 360 I get 6576.

MUCH better.

That's great. You'll love that card. I had a Voodoo 5500 for a week and returned it because I didn't think the speed increase was that great over my system with a V3 in it and got the Geforce2. Big, big, big difference in framerates. Especially in FPS games. Seems very stable also, which is something I was worried about with a non intel based mb.

BTW - My scores are a little better than 6550. Athlon @ 900, Geforce at 200/360.

HUGE difference.

Yea, I just don't get it. I see posts all over the place where people rant about how great the V5 is. I just didn't see it. I agree with you, huge difference between GF2 & V5 cards. The best I can guess is these guys didn't really try the two cards against each other. To me the GF2 seems much superior.
