It can help... but if you need a new mouse to "pwnz0r teh n00bs" then you probably won't benefit

i use the older mx500. had it for years now and its a great mouse. never skips or jumps, good dpi. dont know how it compares to the mx510 ect but its good enough for me.
much better than the old ms intellimouse optical it replaced.
