I heard a radio program the other day about everyhting that has been installed at his ranch for when he is "on vacation." He is just as plugged in to the White House there as if he had been sitting in the oval office.

We're talking about the President of the United States here, not Joe Blow. When I go on vacation I can't be reached until I get back. The same doesn't apply for him. He's connected to Washington everywhere he goes.

Actually they say his ranch in TX has the same communication capabilities as the White House. So just because he is in TX and on "vacation" I think he was still watching and figuring things out from there don't you? I mean look at how many people thought this wasn't going to be that bad even the locals there. So I think how Bush handled the situation was a good way.

Yep. White House operations were just moved to Crawford and everywhere else Bush went. Nothing else changed. He was only on vacation in the sense that he wasn't in DC. With Congress not in session it wasn't essential for him to be there anyway.
