The other claim against getting vaccinated is how it is produced and not even talking about mercury yet.

When you design a drug(this is a newer debate) that the person who is the test subject is who that drug is designed for. Even though we are all human beings it is a known fact that drugs designed for a black may be bad for asians. A drug designed for men would be very bad for women.

With that in mind if the drug works on an asian then perhaps the percentage of mortality rates would be higher among whites than for blacks or vice versa.

No such thing as a neutral human to test drugs on that would be good for all humans.

If the drug was tested on a black person then that drugs should only be given to black people.

It is only common sense and even a 60 minute report on drugs given noted that medicine tested for men should not be given to women but the NOW movement who want equality would cry sexism when in fact FEMALES ARE NOT MALES.

Equality is sham when it comes to medicine and the findings are proving that right.

I hate to break it to you, but if a drug has a known side effect/averse effect on a certain group, a drug guide will actually state it.

You reap what you sow.

This is what American's want; medieval ages like quality of life - low education, disease, unfounded speculation, superstition, etc.

Was vaccinated for almost everything in the Military. Maybe that is part of the reason for PTSD.

It was funny. You went down this line of guys and they used a vaccination gun and shot you in each arm and momentarily stood still.

You should at least support someones right to make decisions for their body.
You DO have the right to decide whether or not to get vaccinated. Are you really this stupid?

What you do NOT have the right to is for there to be no consequences of your decision to not get vaccinated.

You have the right, but don't expect equal treatment everywhere else because of it (I.e. schools can tell parents no if the child isn't vaccinated).

Take your damn vaccines and hush. I expect this out of children but not adults. We have it so good these days that people get paranoid about the dumbest chit.

Let's stop painting all vaccinations, immunizations and inoculations with the same broad brush. Just as all medication types aren't the same and come with different side effects. I'm on a case-by-case basis with the abundance of them. Yeah, you will never ever *catch* me getting a flu vaccination, period.

And stop calling out the ignorance of others and work on your own supreme ignorance. The developing world suffers from compromised immune function due to a fundamental lack of nutrition, which includes an extreme vitamin A deficiency. Start by educating yourself on the Golden Rice Project, Vitamin Angels, Unicef's work etc....

The problem: About vitamin A deficiency
http://www.unicef.org/immunization/23245_vitamina.html

The Impact: vitamin A supplementation saves lives

Improving the vitamin A status of children…

Increases their chances of survival:
Reduces death from measles up to 50 per cent
Reduces death from diarrhea by 40 per cent
Reduces overall mortality by 25 per cent

Reduces the severity of childhood illnesses:
Less strain on clinic and outpatient services
Fewer hospital admissions
Contributes to the well-being of children and families

Other health benefits:
Prevents night blindness, xerophthalmia, corneal destruction and blindness
May reduce birth defects
May prevent epithelial and perhaps other types of cancer
May reduce maternal mortality:
Improves resistance to infection
Helps reduce anemia

Is proven cost-effective:
Just a few cents per capsule
Reduces health costs by lessening hospital and clinic visits
Easily integrated into existing public health/immunization programmes

Goal
Eliminate vitamin A deficiency by 2010.

Basic nutrition and clean drinking water (no matter Nestle's privatization effort) is a right to be bestowed on the world; it can only benefit society to lessen this disease incubation in these countries. I don't see how some magic shot or bandaid will make these problems vanish.

Who the hell was talking about the developing world? The discussion has been about the outbreak linked to Disneyland.

Now admittedly LA is a real sh$#hole, but it's not quite developing world.

When do we get to tell gays they need to stay inside and lose custody of their children?

After all, gays make up the largest percentage of HIV cases.

I remember all the children at school I inadvertently infected with airborne HIV just because my parents happened to be gay.

But they were women! Everyone knows lesbians are hot; it's the gay men that are vile and disease-ridden!

Smallpox may have killed a lot of people, but at least the people who survived were not jibbering drooling morons who think they're so damn smart. For those that do not wish to be jibbering drooling morons who lick the boots of their corporate masters and love every last drop of it, there are many types of vaccines that can be obtained either without mercury or with much less mercury. But you have to do some work to obtain them, which obviously requires that you not be a jibbering drooling moron.

Mercury? Maybe I'll be concerned with the Mercury in vaccines when you stop putting chlorine and toxic flammable metals on your fries.

Besides, one can of tuna has way more mercury in it than a vaccine.

Not to mention that the vaccines with thimerosal contain ethylmercury ions which are flushed from the system much faster than the methylmercury ions in the tuna.

Getting caught up in the whole mercury thing is just a way for the anti-vaccine Vitamin-peddlers to move the goalposts.

And just think, if everyone's vaccinated, that means you've got a ridiculously small population of the pathogen. It's tough for a pathogen to evolve into a new strain if it's dead.

Also: Who gives a rat's ass if a vaccination isn't 100% effective?
"Hey, great news! I can cut the mortality rate of this disease from 1 in 10 to 1 in 50,000! There is also a small chance of a reaction to the immunization, so there could be another 1 in 50,000 chance of dying because of that."

"So as many as 2 in 50,000? Until you can do 0 in 50,000, piss off! I'll stick with my 1 in 10 death rate, thank you very much."
Good points, especially for measles which IIRC has no known vectors beyond infected humans.

Parents need to be educated on the dangers of improper nutrition. Especially in light of vitamin A deficiency, children are thousands of times more likely contracting/dying from measles. I also have less problem imposing this awareness before allowing their children's entrance into school.

In fact, I'll bet a diet rich in vitamin A would (virtually) eliminate measles from the lexicon of developed societies such as ours. Cod liver oil pills {high in both vitamin a and d} might be all it would take to reduce measles, and even rickets. Vaccines have done far less to eradicate disease than has improved access to: nutrition, clean drinking water and modern sanitation.

The link to measles virus infectiousness in regards to vitamin A deficiency was firmly established long ago.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=vitamin+a+measles
Good nutrition can certainly help, but they are no proper replacement for vaccinations once one is in the developed world. Not to mention that the rate of deaths from contaminated cod liver oil (literally the worse tasting thing in the world, as if someone had canned a mixture of rotting fish guts and Rosy O'Donnell's rancid ass fat), while no doubt miniscule, is probably as high or higher than that of vaccinations. The risk from fresh fruit is by comparison much, much higher than that of vaccinations.

If while getting ready to deploy into a third world nation soldiers are offered a choice between vaccinations for the local diseases and cod liver oil, that's going to be one freakin' old bottle of cod liver oil.

But they were women! Everyone knows lesbians are hot; it's the gay men that are vile and disease-ridden!
lol Yeah, even when lesbians aren't hot, they kinda are, 'cause they're lesbians. Except Rosy O'Donnell.

This story has me pissed off beyond belief. My wife and I took our 5 month son to Disneyland on Christmas and we missed the exposure dates by a few days. The fact that my kid was at risk due to people's stupidity just infuriates me everytime I see a new article stating that more and more people are being diagnosed with measles. There were hundreds, if not thousands of children under the age of 12 months (therefore not yet able to receive the MMR vaccine) at the park that day. I wouldn't mind having these anti-vaccine kooks get fined for child endangerment due to their actions.

Bingo. The entire anti-vax movement is fed by the snake oil merchants.
