Where do the Motherboard companies rank?

Can someone rank the motherboard brands from top to bottom in terms of price and quality...? I need some kind of relative idea where each company stands...

When I built my last PC, I got an Abit board. Treated me great! I thought it was one of the higher-elite of the Mobo companies. Now someone tells me to go with MSI, even though I didn't even know about them before.

Any guidance/rankings would be helpful!

The ranking depends on what you want to do. Generally (for AMD) it breaks down like this:

Overclocking:

1) DFI
2) Epox

Stability and features (goodies on the board) and not overclocking:

1) Asus
2) Gigabyte
3) MSI

Server/Workstation (Opteron):

1) Tyan
2) Asus/iWill
3) Gigabyte
4) MSI

Don't rule out the other makers (ie. Chaintec, ECS, ASRock, etc..) they have been known to put out some amazing boards.

That's my 2 cents (I'm sure everyone will disagree, but that's their opinion).

As for Abit, they were awesome now they are hit or miss.

As for Intel, the above applies for the most part. Just add Intel to the "Stability and features (goodies on the board) and not overclocking" and Server/Workstation lists in the number 1 or 2 spot.

Thanks for the input... This gives me some idea of where they all stand. The comment about Abit sounds right, since when I built my PC 3 yrs ago it was getting rave reviews, and now I don't hear much about them.

Any other opinions are welcomed too...

evil is dead on. Although I wouldn't recommend an abit if that's what you want to buy again...
