so where do you think the better money would go to right now? I have an AMD 2500+ and 512MB.. but I can only upgrade one for better performance in good old Doom 3..

512MB RAM or 3200+CPU?

Between the cpu and ram, get the extra memory. However, your money could be better spent on a better video card.

Video Card!! But if i had to choose between the two I would say the RAM.

If your current 2500+ can not do 3200+ speed, then the CPU will give you the biggest performance jump.

Get both by overclocking your 2500+ to 3200+ AND get the extra 512MB of RAM. Your modded 9700 Pro should be able to handle 1024x768 at medium maybe even high quality settings in Doom3.

First you have to tell us why your 2500+ isn't already running at 3200+ speed.
