which 4850?

- Sapphire HD 4850 [625/993; 100%/100%] £114 (looks bit like intel core2 cooler)
- PowerColor HD 4850 PCS+ [665/993; 106%/100%] £132 (Zerotherm GX810)
- Gainward HD 4850 Golden Sample [700/1100; 112%/111%] £144

The clock increase is just gravy over the good cooler. I mean, if the £30 increase is worth the 12% clock then a further £30 to a 4870 starts making sense... I wont go above factory speeds until it gets near replacement time.

The Sapphire is a significantly shorter board, if that matters with a Antec P182 case.

I also saw a couple of cards with a displayport and HDMI, are these worthwhile features?

I would go with whichever one is cheaper. Sine they all have excellent coolers on them.

What resolution do you play at? The core increase on some of those may not even matter.

1680x1050 if possible, and I'll turn down the other settings if it will let me achieve that.

I got Sapphire HD 4850 and it's working really well.

I know you're unlikely to have another 4850 to compare too, but do you find it runs reasonably cool & quiet?

It looks like it runs cool, because temps never get over 65 under load with my card.
And it's not noisy card, I can hear its fan, but it's not that loud to be disturbing.
