I've seen that around here in VA. I may have to pick up a six pack to try it out.

horrible advice. life's too short for crappy beer.

Your short list should include anything from Pyramid, Bridgeport, Widmer, Full Sail, or Rogue. These are all northwest breweries, but I imagine you could find them anywhere if you do a little looking. If you can't then you could always get something from Henry's as they have a wider distribution. Just stay away from their hefeweizen, as I found it too be quite disgusting (although I might just be spoiled on Widmer).

Edit: My favorites-

Widmer Hefeweizen
Bridgeport Blue Heron Pale
Pyramid Summer Ale (for something lighter)
Full Sail Pale
Full Sail IPA (very hoppy and yummy!)

Life's too short for queer beers and for hunting them down.

Guys like you are funny when you come into a great local bar, hear great music and then almost cry when you list off 12 beers and none are even in a bottle there.

I am sure secretly Stella is on your short list too like all these other geeks.

Well put Alkemyst. A part of knowing good beers is knowing when they fit the occassion. Just like wine, good beer is only necessary at certain times. You won't catch me with an Okocim Fire or Old Engine Oil at a BBQ.

Enjoy a beer that you can find at a grocery store for Memorial Day. No harm done, we won't tell your beer geeks at the indi bar dainthomas. Get the "its cool to know cool beers" montra out of your head. Its pretty played out.

OP - Newcastle sounds great man.

I guess it depends where you live. All the beers I listed are abundantly available at every local grocery or convenience store (and on tap at most restaurants).

Why is is snooty to spend $2 more on a six pack of Widmer than one of Coors light if I find it infinitely more enjoyable to drink? I guess I'm snooty for buying name brand soda like Pepsi over generic crap like Shasta or Western Family too.

ridiculous. you people have no sense of taste. if you're plan is simply to get piss drunk, then go for natty lite. it seems to be all you're worth, fellas.

I bet you drink beer with a pinky up, don't you?

Did you just read what I wrote and then punch yourself in the face? I hope so, because it would merit a decent excuse for such an ignorant reply. Why do these arguments happen every time beer is mentioned?

There's nothing wrong with some Popov every once and a while. There's nothing wrong with some Yellow Tail every once and a while. There's nothing wrong with a Stella or a Newcastle every once and a while.

4 nights a week I'm at a small local bar with a Hofbrau Maibach or Hobgoblin in my hand, but if the occassion deems otherwise I'm drinking whatever fits the bill. I suggest you re-apply for your man card at your nearest DMV, get your head out of your ass, and enjoy a beer with friends.

I like Yeungling and Old Style as much as the next man, but based on your ignorance towards the derivation of simple, and extremely old foodstuffs, I dont' think I'll let you criticize me on my tastes, TYVM

"Punch myself in the face?" what, are you in 7th grade?

No love for chimay on this list? A good belgian ale is quite nice, but maybe a little heavy if it's warm out.

As others have said,
Fat tire
Bass
Newcastle
Sierra Nevada

But if you can find Chimay Grande Reserve, buy two and call it a night.

If you live in a state that sells Shiner Bock, get that. Its quite possibly the best beer ever made.

One of my favorites too, though I'm no beer connoisseur. It's available in Utah grocery stores so I'd be surprised if Indiana didn't have it.

(Utah grocery stores require special beer with lower alcohol content...)

Another vote for Three Floyds. Everything they brew is exceptional.

However, OP, you have indicated you are not that particular, so if you get Yuengling out your way, black & tan is great for the price.

None of the above. Jeebus, those three truly suck.

Naw I like all three of them. I'm about -200% of a beer snob. I drink that kinda beer because it's cheap and I actually like the taste. If the gas station I'm going to had Blatz I'd get that instead actually, haha.
