I'd like to get my hands on an ide raid controller. Which should I get?
It'll only be running stripping and cost really isn't a problem, I just want to choos the best card for the job. I've been told Iwill and Abit both make excellent cards.
The card will be matched up with a K7T Pro-2A, so if anyone has had experience with the best card on this board, please let me know.

Thanks.

Oh,and regarding cost, no scsi...I've already got two all U2W scsi servers humming away here...no need for scsi in this desktop...the TA's from down the hall are already complaining about noise....

3Ware 6800B will embarrass the Promise card, not surprisingly, so will the price (about $410). If you don't need an 8 channel card, the 4 channel 6400B will run you about $240 and provide top notch IDE RAID preformance.

Thanks.

StorageReview.com recently compared a 3ware RAID card with an Adaptec IDE RAID offering, I think. Of course, both are ridiculously expensive so I wouldn't consider either.

I modded a Proise U66 controller. Cost me like $30.00 a year ago.

If cost is really no object:
a. Get the Adaptec card
b. Get SCSI

Read the StorageReview review of the 4 channel card Ukimoose. Just pay attention to the benchmarks using 2 drives as the performance should be similar to the 2 channel card. The comparison is between a 3ware card and the Promise SuperTrak100 4 channel card. Under no circumstances should even think about buying the Adaptec card if you have any interest in performance.
