Guess I am too late.

Forget the ipod. I went Cowon A2 and never looked back. It is more money but does everything under the sun and you do not have to use itunes.

Do songs have the habit of disappearing? I got some songs off itunes and I remember playing it on my ipod, but the next day I check the artist and there is only 1 song when there should be 3. It kind of sucks because I got the songs from my uncle who lives in florida so I dont techniclly own them. Also downloaded a trial version of copypod.

I love my ipod, aside from the slightly annoying pause when you browse from song to song..I love it.

Downloaded an episode of The Office and other things.

BTW, how many 22 min episodes can an ipod hold?

When the ipod says 7,500 is the maximum it can hold..is it estimating each song would be 3 mins long? Or....??

An finally, any suggestions on accessories or things I will most definitely need for my ipod?

Thanks everyone.

This was a pointless thread as you clearly didn't learn a thing yet you bumped it continously for absolutely nothing.. Idiot.

lol, why do people get all mad over someone else buying an iPod? Did his decision to buy an iPod affect you in a negative manner? Geez, people need to chill out with all the iPod hating. Yes iPods are overrated, but that doesn't mean it's bad for people to like them..

There are freezing and other issues with the 30gb video ipod. My brother recently got one for christmas and it was sold out everywhere BB, Comp USA, Circuit City so we had to go the apple store in manhattan to buy one. Anyways when he got home he didnt even turn it on and charged the battery full then began to upload all his songs, after that he started to listen to it and it worked 2ce before it completely froze upon the 3rd time. It was also odd that before it froze none of the songs would play at all, well then we took it back and traded it. Another thing that should be noted was the battery after only 3-4hrs of use was more than half way down. His new one honestly does freeze from time to time, its done it 2ce since he bought it but nothing a quick reset cant fix, thankfully the battery in this one lives up to its 20hr name. Im not saying that all ipods freeze it could just be a bad batch, but my friends nano also froze on him once when he set it on his car. My advice would to get something with a better price/performance ratio, i know it can be tempting to buy one of the new ipods because they are the new "HOT" gadgets but try to resist the pull.

Eh. My iPod has not frozen since I got it. And if you get 20 hours out of a 30GB, you should be amazed because Apple only talks about 14 for the 30, 20 hours is for the 60GB. Also, the battery meter is inaccurate (especially when you first get it), you're supposed to charge the battery full, then drain it and recharge. After 3 recharge cycles, battery performance will improve and the battery meter will be more accurate.

I dont re-charge my ipod untill the battery is dead.

I dont leave it pluged into the wall charger.

I love my ipod, sad thing is copypod said I was tampering with there software, plus itunes isn't working.

I guess I could use my moms computer.

kind of sucks though.

You are being pretty stupid, there (seriously--isn't this the kind of thing that should be standard research before you buy?!). Charge it all the time. You're using a LI (LP?) battery, not NIMH. Heat and constant deep discharges are what kill them.

(note, however, that newer lithium rechargables can handle thousands of charge/discharge cycles)

So leaving my ipod uncharged is what kills the battery??

I have it in a drawer so the tempature is pretty cool.

So do I need to have it charged all the time to prevent an early dead battery?

Just leaving it whatever state it is in, charged or not, should be fine. It is deeply discharging it (waiting until it complains about low battery to charge it) regularly that kills them. Just have it using the charger when it is not in use, so that it stays fully charged most of the time, and it will be fine.

Yea because they're extremely overpriced, lack features other players have, require you to use the bloated iTunes software that will run smoothly only if you have 1GB of ram and scratch extremely easily! That's exactly why they're great!
