IMHO the original DE is the best game ever. Period. The story line and character developement are outstanding. It took me far longer than 24hrs to finish. Tremendous replay value, large maps. Cool places - NYC, Paris, Hong Kong etc. You may many alternative ways to achieve the objective you choose. Very open ended. There was only one place I recall you were "forced" in a direction (a fight in a subway where you were captured and sent to prison - I must've played that part for 2 or 3 days before I realized I couldn't win there).

Yeah, the gfx are dated (I played it several years ago). But you may find the story so compelling that you won't notice after you start. Pretty much the same for System Shock 2.

Did they ever optomize the performance of the DE:IW on the PC? Also, did they ever allow you to have a PC UI in it rather than that damn console UI?

The original is by far better.

Vampire Bloodlines was so close to being such an awesome game. The bugs that made much if it unplayable however just turned me off. It's a shame too, could have been a masterpiece.

Yeah Shad, you can adjust UI yourself. Can't remember which files to go into, been too long. But the info's on the game/fan site etc.

Ahh, checked my old links, No worky any longer. I'm thinking it's the .ini files

yes . . . check the LookingGlass forums for texture pax and stuff to make it look and 'feel' more like the original. Compare to its marginal performance on my 9800xt - which barely ran at 10x7, no aa - my x850xt has no trouble with 11x8, all the texture packs , and aa/af. it was worth a replay [i was replaying it and Thief-DS] . . . 'till i got Oblivion.
